Quick Facts About Cafe Etch
Cafe Etch has a number of strengths and weaknesses, as indicated by the comments provided. Starting with the strengths, one recurring positive aspect of the cafe is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Many customers mentioned the helpful and chatty staff, which contributes to a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, the cafe is described as having a relaxed ambiance and being dog-friendly, which adds to its appeal for customers.
Another strength mentioned in the comments is the quality of the coffee. Several customers specifically praised the coffee, describing it as "lovely," "the best," and "fantastic." This indicates that the cafe puts effort into serving high-quality coffee, which is likely to attract coffee enthusiasts.
The presence of vegetarian and vegan options is another strength of Cafe Etch. Customers mentioned that the cafe offers a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including delicious cakes. This shows that the cafe is catering to the needs and preferences of a diverse range of customers.
The affordability of the cafe is also highlighted in the comments. Several customers mention that the prices are reasonable and appropriate, and the cafe is described as quite cheap for the variety it offers. This makes the cafe more accessible to a wider range of customers and can be a significant advantage, particularly in a competitive market.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses noted in the comments. One of the most prominent issues mentioned is the poor quality of the food. Customers complain about the burgers being frozen and tasteless, the side salad lacking care and attention, and the french fries being of standard frozen quality. These complaints emphasize the dissatisfaction with the food's taste and quality, which can be a significant disadvantage for a cafe that primarily serves food.
Another weakness pointed out in the comments is the overpricing of certain items. Customers mention feeling that they were charged exorbitant prices for poor quality food. This highlights the lack of balance between the cost and quality of the food, which can be a major deterrent for customers, especially in a location like Middlesbrough where customers may be more price-sensitive.
The limited heating in the cafe is another weakness mentioned. One customer specifically notes that the cafe is cold and the small heater does not provide adequate warmth. This can impact the comfort level of customers, particularly during colder months, and may discourage them from staying longer or revisiting the cafe.
In conclusion, Cafe Etch has several strengths, including a friendly atmosphere, high-quality coffee, a variety of vegetarian and vegan options, and affordability. However, the weaknesses identified in the comments include poor quality food, overpricing, and inadequate heating. These drawbacks can impact the overall experience for customers and potentially affect the long-term success of the cafe.

Style over substance and overpriced Ordered a Diet Coke for £2.60 was given a 200ml glass mixer size bottle. A lot of establishments do this now and I feel it’s underhand especially as size is not stated on the menu. Regular cup of tea £2.60 (1 teabag hot water and a splash of milk) We ordered 2 cheeseburgers and fries to share. Order took nearly 30 mins to arrive. The burgers were the frozen kind you get of a nightclub Chuck wagon drenched in American mustard and Ketchup. The side salad was two cherry tomatoes, 3 slices of cucumber and two limp bits of days old rocket with zero dressing topped off with 8 tortilla chips thrown at it. Just no care or attention given. The french fries again were the frozen type standard. Total bill £26.00 Guys if your going to charge prices like this in Middlesbrough for such poor quality food. I worry for your future. Lovely decor and ambience doesn’t make up for the poor standard of food and the exorbitant prices your charging. An extra star for the friendly staff and atmosphere. I know times are difficult for establishments in the hospitality sector but really £26 quid i feel like I’ve been mugged
I have loved eating at this place. The ambience is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say is that it so cold. There is one very small heater that barely gives out any heat. I will certainly be going back to try more on the menu in the summer months. The photography exhibition was amazing
The best cafe in the area and they have the best coffee and their prices are very, very reasonable and appropriate ????

Lovely coffee, great music and a relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus. Silky latte and tasty sausage bun.
A good little cafe with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Always loved the cakes here. And I had a white hot chocolate with a shot of caramel decorated with cream and marshmallow (vegan) on top which was really amazing and love to have it again and again. The cafe has got some good plants and sustainable products to sell as well. Nice cozy atmosphere and it's quite cheap as well for it's varieties. Go in there without a second thought.
Lovely little independent place. Friendly staff. Outside eating in dry weather. Would recommend
