Quick Facts About Dan Thai
Dan Thai Place is a restaurant that has received a variety of feedback from customers. Through analyzing the comments, we can identify the strengths and weaknesses of the restaurant.
One strength that is consistently praised by customers is the excellent customer service. Customers mention that the staff is incredibly polite, friendly, and accommodating. They also note that the owner is particularly kind and attentive. This emphasis on providing great service contributes to a positive dining experience for customers.
Another strength of Dan Thai Place is the freshness and quality of the ingredients used in their dishes. Multiple customers comment on the freshness of the vegetables and how well-balanced and delicious the food tastes. This highlights the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality ingredients and ensuring that customers are served delicious and flavorful meals.
The ambiance of the restaurant is also mentioned as a positive aspect by customers. They describe it as calming and peaceful, contributing to a pleasant dining atmosphere. This adds to the overall dining experience and creates a welcoming environment for customers.
On the other hand, there are some weaknesses that are mentioned in the comments. One major critique is the slow service that some customers experienced. While some customers appreciate the slower pace as it allows them to enjoy complimentary items such as prawn crackers and Jasmine tea, others find it frustrating. This inconsistency in service speed could be a weakness of Dan Thai Place.
Another weakness that is highlighted by a customer is the lack of variety in the menu. They mention that certain dishes they desired, such as Massaman beef curry and drunken noodles, were not on the lunch menu or listed as regular offerings. This limited choice of dishes may be a drawback for customers who desire more variety in their dining options.
Some customers also express disappointment in the quality of certain dishes. One customer specifically mentions a lamb Massaman dish that they found unappealing due to the lack of spices, flavor, and the presence of excessive salt. Another customer comments on their underwhelming experience with the papaya salad and green curry, noting that they lacked key elements such as garnishes and depth of flavor. These instances of underwhelming food quality indicate inconsistencies in the preparation and execution of dishes, which may be considered a weakness for the restaurant.
Lastly, the restaurant's refusal to accept American Express, despite advertising participation in the Amex shop small scheme, is a significant weakness. This refusal to accept a commonly used payment method may inconvenience some customers and may result in a negative perception of the establishment.
In conclusion, Dan Thai Place has several strengths including excellent customer service, the use of fresh ingredients, and a calming ambiance. However, the weaknesses identified include slow service, limited menu options, inconsistent food quality, and the refusal to accept certain payment methods. Despite these weaknesses, the restaurant has received positive feedback overall and has garnered a loyal customer base over the years.

Brilliant service but slow allowing time to enjoy prawn crackers and Jasmine tea.
We ordered the Massaman beef curry that took time to prepare and not on lunch menu. We shared prawn soup noodles and fried spicy squids with rice. Love the spiciness but in general find Thai food a little too sweet.
Not sure what this is. I am scared to eat it. Ordered Lamb Kang Massaman. Mainly potatoes 3 pieces of grey lamb in total. Sauce is like water and taste of salt. No spices or flavour. A very disappointing Thai experience. Oil sitting on top of some kind of cream solution. Absolutely embarassing. Paid £11 for this. If you are going to serve food at least make an effort to make it look edible.
I am so disappointed. Does restaurants not care about what they serve anymore?
Owned by the loveliest people, they don’t have drunken noodles on the menu but I requested them and they kindly agreed to make them for me!! The one thing I noticed was how fresh the vegetables were - everything tasted so well balanced, clean and delicious. And the ambience in the restaurant is so calming...genuinely such a lovely place, wish I knew about it sooner
Not sure how many times Ive been here over few years, but it’s always my happy place!!! Good food, lovely staff, the most polite owner and peaceful ambience. Usually my eyes always go to Pad thai, but this time decided to try the Thai veg curry with egg fried rice, polished it to the last morsel. When the place us full, there is a wait. So I normally go during off peak times when I enjoy my time better.
First visit recently. Incredible food, very polite and friendly staff, good portions and prices too. Service was a little bit slow but it was also very busy so I can understand why it may have been slow. Will definitely return.
A very odd experience and underwhelming food. My husband and I booked a few days in advance for a Friday night. When we arrived, we were seated at the back, right next to the toilet and kitchen. I heard the toilet flush a few times and requested to be moved. Initially, the manager told us that they could not move us as the only other unreserved table was for four people not two. At this point, we politely informed her that we would not be staying for dinner. The manager quickly retracted and moved us to the available table.
Once we’d moved, the atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t! Don’t get me wrong, the food wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t that good. The papaya salad missed the wow factor - no peanuts etc garnished on top. The flavour of the dressing was nice though. The green curry lacked depth of flavour, lacked aubergine and the coconut milk looked ever so slightly curdled in the curry. My stir fried pork dish was okay.
When we were ready to the pay, they refused to accept American Express even though they advertise as taking part in the Amex shop small scheme.
I've been coming to Dan Thai for over 5 years . The food is excellent and freshly made to order. There is no msg or artificial seasoning which we love. My husband and I particularly love Pam's Special fish that she always make for us, its not on the menu, we just ask if she could do something special for us, which she's always happy to do and she always serves such tasty food. We've celebrated most of our special occasions there (birthdays, anniversaries, new job, new house, baby arrival etc) and we've also started celebrating the birthdays of family and friends there as the food and service is so great. Today we celebrated our friend's birthday and the service was excellent..Great food, excellent customer service and intimate setting. Thanks Dan Thai for always making our special moments more memorable ❤.
I've just had a takeaway and it's the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I've eaten in the restaurant a few times and it's always been very good but I never expected the takeaway to be just as nice. The flavours were so fresh and authentic, I can't think of a bad thing to say about the meal. Easiest 5 stars I've ever given!
