Some praised specific dishes, such as the lamb karahi, seekh kebab sandwich, fish pakora, and lamb seekh kebab on nan. The food was described as delicious, tasty, and fresh. The quality of the kebab was highlighted as being particularly good, with the perfect amount of salad and a nice combination of sauce. Customers also appreciated the reasonable prices, considering the good taste and quality of the food. The fact that some customers, who claimed to be hard to please, were satisfied with their meals speaks to the restaurant's ability to meet different tastes.
The restaurant's location on Wilmslow Road, in the heart of the Curry Mile, was also seen as a positive aspect. Being amongst several other places of variable quality allows for customers to have a variety of dining options in close proximity. Lal Qila Express was specifically mentioned as an excellent restaurant amidst this competition.
In terms of weaknesses, one customer mentioned that the décor of the restaurant felt outdated and unchanged over the years. This lack of updating may give the impression of a restaurant that is not keeping up with the times.
Another customer pointed out that they were given poppadoms and a chutney tray without even being asked if they wanted it, and were later charged for it. This behavior was seen as cheeky and gave the impression of an attempt to upsell. This could be seen as a weakness in customer service and transparency.
Furthermore, some customers mentioned that the staff were hovering and asking if they wanted more drinks when their glasses were only half full. While this may be seen as attentive service to some, it was perceived as pushy by these customers. This could be seen as a weakness in the staff's ability to gauge the needs and preferences of customers.
One customer also raised concerns about the food bill being inflated. They felt that they were being charged more than they expected, which could indicate a weakness in pricing transparency or consistency.
Lastly, the most significant weakness mentioned by a customer is the state of the toilets. They described them as "beyond vile." Considering that this comment was made in a review of Lal Qila Express as a food outlet, the cleanliness of the toilets is an important aspect to consider. This could be seen as a major weakness in terms of overall hygiene and cleanliness standards.
In conclusion, Lal Qila Express has strengths in terms of delicious and reasonably priced food, as well as its location amongst several other dining options. However, weaknesses were identified in the lack of updating in decor, upselling tactics, pushy staff behavior, pricing transparency, and most notably, the state of the toilets. The restaurant is located on Wilmslow Road (curry mile). I had no been here for several years and the decor felt like it had not changed one bit.
As soon as we sat down we was provided with poppadoms and chutney tray without even been asked if we wanted it. I'd checked the bill and found we were charged for it. I found that a bit cheeky.
The food was good and tasted fresh. I also found that waiter was hovering and asking if we wanted more drinks when our glass were half full.
Overall good food but we found our food bill inflated.
Excellent restaurant nestled amongst several other places of variable quality, I can say I have been a few times now and everything I have eaten has been really enjoyable and full of flavour, the waiter make excellent recommendations, take note of this and discover something amazing, I had chicken kuchi on my last visit and I urge you to try this dish , enjoy!!
Good value for money. Traditional seek kebabs. Fresh baked naan. Enjoyed it. Very few remaining traditional pakistani takeaway on Wilmslow road. Sauce could do with some improvement.
The food is spot on… but it gets a 1 star as the toilets are absolutely beyond vile for a food outlet.
