Quick Facts About Mayya Bistro
Mayya Bistro, located in Waltham Cross, has received a mix of positive and negative feedback from customers. To analyze the strengths and weaknesses, we will delve into the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, several customers had positive experiences with the menu choices at Mayya Bistro. The bistro offers a wide range of options, including lunchtime panini, fully loaded sandwiches, and vegetarian and vegan choices. Additionally, customers appreciated the extensive breakfast menu, which includes American pancakes with syrup and fruit. Another strength mentioned was the generous portion size for all meals. Customers felt that they received good value for their money and praised the fantastic pasta served at Mayya Bistro. The accommodating and friendly staff were also mentioned as a positive aspect, as they provided excellent customer service.
The decor of the bistro was described as nice, comfortable, and clean, creating a pleasant ambience for customers. Furthermore, the availability of parking and the convenient transport links were viewed positively, as they made the bistro easily accessible.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one customer expressed disappointment and anger towards the prices at Mayya Bistro. They felt that the quality and quantity of the food did not match the high prices, particularly considering that the bistro is located in Waltham Cross, not central London. The customer found it insulting that they were charged an extra £1 to scramble an egg instead of frying it.
Another weakness highlighted was the lack of attentiveness from the staff. One customer mentioned that the staff spent more time chatting inside instead of catering to customers outside. They also had to ask for a high chair despite being the only customers with a child. Additionally, the customer had to go inside to place their order, which was inconvenient.
Several comments criticized the food quality at Mayya Bistro. One customer found their halloumi and falafel wrap to be dry and lacking flavor. However, they did acknowledge that the curly fries were the best part of the meal. Another customer mentioned that their Mediterranean pasta was not fresh and had been heated in the microwave. They also found the portion size and ingredients to be lacking, with only a few leaves of spinach and minimal halloumi. The chicken in their dish was described as low-quality and the Parmesan had a hair in it. When they brought up these issues to the waitress, they felt that their concerns were not adequately addressed.
Interestingly, despite some negative feedback, other customers had positive experiences with the food. One customer thoroughly enjoyed their burger, while another praised the falafel, houmous, and halloumi wrap as the best they've had in years.
The cleanliness of the bathrooms and the nice interior decor were mentioned as positives by some customers. They also enjoyed sitting outside in the spacious seating area. Some customers considered returning to Mayya Bistro for drinks and dessert, as they found the dessert menu to be extensive and enjoyable.
In summary, Mayya Bistro has strengths in its menu choices, accommodating staff, generous portion sizes, and pleasant decor. However, weaknesses were identified in regards to the high prices in comparison to the food quality, lack of attentiveness from staff, and inconsistencies with food preparation and ingredient quality.

A truly wonderful bistro. Excellent menu choices, including lunchtime panini and fully loaded sandwiches. Vegetarian and vegan choices are available. Breakfast is available nearly all day. The breakfast menu is extensive with American pancakes, syrup & fruit. Portion size for all meals is generous, the pasta is fantastic. The staff are extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. The decor is nice, comfortable, and clean. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Parking is available, the transport links are also very good.
I must be honest I’m disappointed and rather angry.
The prices reflected in this menu are on par with central London despite being located in the Center of Waltham cross… quality and quantity definitely do not match the price and I think that’s even more insulting than their unjust prices.
What really shocked me was the extra £1 to scramble an egg rather than fry said egg…
Staff spent more time chatting at the till inside rather than than paying attention to their customers outside - shouldn’t really have to ask for a high chair when we are the only customers minus a couple drinking coffee … also shouldn’t have to get up and go inside in order to order
Our bottle of water was room temp and there was no ice in the glasses, the Mediterranean pasta which is priced at a hefty £12 was not fresh but heated in the microwave (and not heated well at all, parts were cold and other parts were slightly warmer than room temperature) with 2/3 leaves of spinach and at most 5g of halloumi (despite it being the main ingredient) I requested no olives and to just have it substituted with extra halloumi - didn’t happen. The strips of chicken were the cheap sandwich filler packs that you can get in Tesco, the Parmesan had a hair in it and when I brought up the hair and lack of halloumi the waitress (who was in the main section eating..? Didn’t apologise but rather she looked a bit annoyed that I’d asked her over for something so silly) so again overall I wouldn’t even pay £4 let alone £12.
Overall not worth it …
While the location is great and the staff is friendly, the food is not in line with the prices. Serving size is reasonable but the food quality is not there. I had the halloumi and falafel wrap, which was quite dry and not as flavourful as I expected. The curly fries were the best part of the meal, and the iced coffee was refreshing. Bathrooms were clean and the inside is quite nice as well, although we sat outside in the large outdoor seating area. If I went back I'd just go for drinks and dessert - they have a large dessert menu!
My husband and I went for lunch here a few weeks back and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. He got the burger and I had the falafel, houmous and halloumi wrap – best one I’ve had in years!
The staff at Mayya were friendly, the service was great and most importantly, the food was delicious. At the time we visited the restaurant they were only serving breakfast and lunch, so we’ll definitely be revisiting soon now that dinner is being served too.
Look, let's get to it. Staff brilliant really accommodating, open friendly. Food! Oh you're going to get more than you paid for and for a far higher quality. If you visit Waltham Cross and don't visit you've missed out.
Got to be one of a minority that has great food and great customer service. (this French toast was under £10, find that anywhere else & it was great).
To the clinical, no I don't work or get paid by them, just want to promote a lovely restaurant.
Staff were very friendly. Food was delicious and portion sizes were just right. Halal options available. Great location with parking nearby and other shops nearby too for convenience. The mushrooms were really well done too, coming from a mushroom fan.
I been here many times. Coffee taste always good. Food always fresh and good decoration of food and place. When I'm visiting Waltham cross always going there for coffee or for meal. Place always neat and welcoming atmosphere. All stuff always smily and polite. Breakfast amazing.
