Quick Facts About New World Takeaway

New World Takeaway, located in Portishead, has received mixed reviews from customers. While some have praised the establishment for its friendly service, good value for money, and quality food, others have expressed disappointment with the taste and quality of their meals. In this analysis, we will examine the strengths and weaknesses of New World Takeaway based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, many customers have praised the friendly and welcoming service they received from the staff, particularly from Jack, who is described as a lovely chap. This indicates that the customer service at New World Takeaway is a great strength, as it leaves a positive impression on customers and encourages them to return. Additionally, the express service is commended, with customers mentioning that they don't have to wait for long periods of time to receive their orders. This efficient service is crucial for takeaway establishments, as it ensures customer satisfaction and encourages repeat business.
Another strength of New World Takeaway is the range of spicy food options that they offer. This appeals to customers who enjoy spicy cuisine and increases the variety of choices available. The inclusion of a fish aquarium in the waiting area is also seen as a positive feature, providing entertainment for customers while they wait for their orders. This small touch adds to the overall experience and shows attention to detail.
The value for money is also mentioned as a strength by some customers. One customer specifically states that they received 8 dishes, 5 meats, and 3 rice for only £43, which they find to be good value, averaging at under £11 per person for a group of 4. This testimony indicates that New World Takeaway offers affordable options for customers, ensuring they get their money's worth.
However, despite its strengths, New World Takeaway has received negative feedback and criticisms from some customers. One customer described their experience as "dreadful," mentioning outdated decor, a grumpy staff member, and bland food at the Rickshaw takeaway. This initial comparison highlights New World Takeaway as a better alternative, but it also indirectly suggests that the competition is not particularly strong. This could be seen as a weakness for New World as it indicates a lack of quality options for Chinese takeaways in the town.
A common complaint among dissatisfied customers is the inconsistency in food quality. One customer mentions that their latest order was disappointing, with chewy beef and lacking flavor. Another customer points out bland egg-fried rice and poorly cooked beef with onions. These instances suggest a lack of consistency and quality control from the kitchen staff, possibly indicating issues with the chef or the overall cooking process. Inconsistency in the quality of food is a significant weakness, as it can lead to customer dissatisfaction and loss of repeat business.
Additionally, food poisoning is mentioned by a customer who ordered noodles for their family, just before Christmas. Although this particular incident could be an isolated case or coincidental, it raises concerns about the food safety standards at New World Takeaway. Food poisoning is a serious issue that can severely impact the reputation of any food establishment, causing customers to lose trust in the establishment and deter them from returning.
In conclusion, New World Takeaway in Portishead has strengths in its friendly and welcoming service, efficient express service, range of spicy food options, and good value for money. However, it also faces weaknesses in terms of inconsistent food quality, potential issues with food safety, and limited competition in the local area. Addressing these weaknesses is crucial for the long-term success and reputation of New World Takeaway.

Moved down to Portishead two years ago from Scotland. Surprised to find there were only two Chinese takeaways in the town! Tried the Rickshaw one first. Dreadful. 1970’s decor, grumpy old woman, no sight of the kitchen, shockingly, bland food.
Next time tried the New World. Much much better! Lovely chap, Jack, was very welcoming.
I wanted to add some extras to my meal, no problem! Could see the staff cooking the meals. I’ve visited the New World every time since. Absolutely excellent, and they have a great range of spicy food. Superb, friendly service and a fantastic fish aquarium to watch whilst you’re waiting. And you don’t have to wait too long. Express service.
I’ll be back. Keep up the good work, New World Folks!!
Our favourite Chinese take away. The guy serving and answering the phone, always very polite. Food is delicious too.
We had 8 dishes, 5 meats and 3 rice all for £43. Pretty good value these days. Under £11 a head for the 4 of us.
Enough left over for re-heated lunch, Saturday as well.
Almost as nice 2nd time round!!
We have used the takeaway for the last 3 years and it's always been good, but our last take away was very disappointing. The beef in black bean sauce was cut so thick and was so chewy it was inedible.
It was too late and cold to return it.
Just wondering if the chef has changed.
Kung po chicken was very nice. But the egg tied rice was bland and seemed to be lacking any egg. And the beef with ginger and spring onion was shocking. Beef that a dog would struggle to chew no ginger and tons of what tasted and looked like normal onions. I will not be wasting my money there again.
My go-to. Truly the best, and will always make something to your specifications (me - I like actual spice, not 'portishead spicy'????). Always friendly and high energy, and something I look forward to (probably too) often!
Disappointing!
Service excellent and really fast… but my shrimp chow mein was just a load of noodles with 3 small prawns (not shrimp) and 5 strips of veg. The veg spring rolls were 90% roll and 10% veg.
New World used to be excellent food with bad service, now it’s bad food with excellent service. I won’t be using it again.
Tried for the first time ordering Kung Po chicken. It was edible but fairly disappointing, more like chicken nuggets in sweet hot sauce with a few water chestnuts slices thrown in. I'll definitely try somewhere else next time.
Ordered noodles, for the wife & kids and they got food poisoning just before Christmas
