Quick Facts About The Dukes Head

The Dukes Head pub in Leatherhead has received a range of comments, both positive and negative. In order to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment, it is important to consider these comments in detail.
Starting with the positive comments, many patrons praised the new Indian restaurant side of the pub. The authentic Indian/Mumbai street food was described as tasty and reasonably priced. This indicates a strength in terms of the quality and affordability of the food. Additionally, the diverse menu was highlighted, with customers remarking that it went beyond the typical "British Indian" dishes. This shows that the pub offers a unique and interesting culinary experience.
The friendly staff were also appreciated by customers, who emphasized the helpfulness and cheerfulness of the new management. This indicates another strength, as good customer service is crucial in creating a positive dining experience. The accommodating nature of the bar tender, as mentioned by one customer, further reinforces this aspect.
Furthermore, the pub's selection of 12 draught beers and ales was commended by patrons. This demonstrates a strength in terms of the variety and quality of the drinks offered. Customers also commented on the pleasant ambiance of the pub, suggesting that the interior and vibe are appealing.
However, it is important to consider the negative comments as well. One customer reported a highly unpleasant incident involving discrimination against a same-sex couple. This is a significant weakness, as it raises concerns about the inclusivity and respect within the establishment. The fact that the staff failed to address the situation appropriately and even rewarded the hecklers with complimentary drinks exacerbates this weakness.
Another negative comment highlighted the rudeness and unwelcoming attitude of the pub owner. This indicates a weakness in terms of the staff's professionalism and customer service skills. The manager's behavior towards customers and their overcharging further contributes to a negative customer experience.
In summary, The Dukes Head pub in Leatherhead has strengths in terms of its authentic Indian cuisine, reasonable prices, interesting menu, friendly staff, selection of drinks, and pleasant ambiance. However, there are also weaknesses concerning discrimination, rude staff, poor customer service, and overcharging. It is important for the pub to address these weaknesses in order to provide a consistently positive experience for all customers.

First time trying the brand new Indian Restaurant side of this pub. They serve authentic Indian/Mumbai street food, and lots of interesting things on the menu - not just your average "British Indian" food. All very tasty and reasonably priced with friendly staff. A must go for dinner in Leatherhead.
Just got a pint here in the newly opened Duke's Head, loved the vibe and selection offered.
They have a lovely selection of 12 draught beers and ale's to choose from.
Under a new management now it seems and they are very helpful and cheerful.
Will be visiting here soon again.
Would surely recommend this place to everyone in Leatherhead, a must visit now in High Street.
New ownership, now a really nice pub and great indian food.
I liked this place. Great beer, good food, cozy interior, and the host was very friendly and welcoming. Will be back.
Very accommodating. Roxy the bar tender read the place very well. Will definitely be going back.
Last night my friend and her wife got asked to leave the dukes head pub in Leatherhead because they were gay. After being heckled continuously by two men in the pub and speaking to the land lady explaining what happened she responded “well if you’re telling people she is your wife you’re asking for it”.
P.s the men were allowed to continue drinking in the pub and had a glass of red on the house for the inconvenience.
Pub owner, that's how he addressed himself, extremely rude and unwelcoming. We pulled into the car park looking for a missing person and he has immediately started shouting that we weren't welcome, they weren't open and generally utterly rude. For an industry that needs business you'd think he'd be a bit more polite
Good points: Lovely decor and old style pub
Bad points: Absolutely shocking service and general attitude from manager who had the demeanor of someone who hated everyone and everything. Grunted a few words at us as we ordered, overcharged us by £2 (petty) and acted like customers were an inconvenience. In that regard he has nothing to fear as we will certainly not be back!
