Quick Facts About The poachers pub

The Poachers Pub has both strengths and weaknesses, as highlighted by the comments provided. In terms of strengths, the pub is described as lovely inside, with an open wood burner that creates a cozy atmosphere. The local chap feeding the fire adds a personal touch and enhances the ambiance. The pub also receives praise for its host, who is described as very nice.
The food at The Poachers Pub is generally well-regarded, with one comment stating that it is nice. It is also mentioned that the staff is brilliant and the service is good. The pub has the potential to be a great place to dine out, suggesting that it has the ability to attract customers with its food and ambiance.
The comments also mention that The Poachers Pub is located in a great spot, and that it is a cute building with beams, adding character and charm to the establishment. Additionally, there is plenty of outdoor space available, which can be a draw for customers who prefer to sit outside.
However, there are several weaknesses identified in the comments. One major concern is the lack of customers, with one comment expressing shock over the fact that there was only one person in the pub during a visit on a Sunday lunchtime. This raises questions about the pub's popularity and customer base. It is suggested that the nearby hotel housing recent arrivals may be impacting the pub's business, as there are concerns about safety and potential issues with these individuals.
Another weakness highlighted is the disappointing drink selection. One comment mentions the lack of real ales, which can be a drawback for beer enthusiasts who enjoy trying different varieties. Furthermore, there are complaints about the quality of the drinks. One person states that the beer had a funny taste, indicating potential issues with the quality or maintenance of the tap lines.
Service is also criticized in the comments. There are multiple instances of miscommunication between customers and staff, resulting in incorrect drink orders and a general feeling of frustration. The barman's difficulty in understanding one customer's request for a pint of water and his subsequent mistakes with the order are mentioned. The lack of proactiveness in offering ice is also seen as a negative aspect of the service. Overall, this creates a negative impression of the staff's competence and attentiveness.
Other weaknesses include the atmosphere and cleanliness of the pub. The pub is described as completely empty and slightly eerie, indicating a lack of vibrancy and ambiance. There are also comments about the pub looking run-down in the beer garden, which may deter potential customers. Additionally, the outdoor furniture is described as shabby and dirty, suggesting a lack of maintenance and attention to detail.
Furthermore, there are concerns about COVID-19 safety measures. The comment mentions that there is no table service and no masks, as well as the use of pen and paper for track and trace records. This indicates that the pub may not be compliant with current health and safety regulations, which can be a deterrent for some customers who prioritize these measures.
In conclusion, The Poachers Pub has several strengths, such as a cozy interior and potentially good food. However, it also faces weaknesses, including a lack of customers, disappointing drink selection, poor service, an eerie atmosphere, run-down appearance, and concerns about COVID-19 safety measures. By addressing these weaknesses and capitalizing on its strengths, The Poachers Pub has the potential to improve and become a more popular and successful establishment.

We only popped in for a coffee on Sunday lunch time and was shocked to see only 1 person in the pub. Its lovely inside with an open wood burner and a very nice local chap feeding the fire. Sadly no real ales, just don't understand why it was so quiet? I heard that the hotel next door is bring used to house recent arrivals, but didn't see any issues and they are not allowed in the pub.
Unbelievable.
I asked for a pint of coca cola, was served Pepsi (should have been told it was Pepsi - as it's licensed premises.
Also asked for a pint of water , barman (who had great difficulty understanding me.) began pouring a pint of cider.
Was then irritated , when I said I wanted water.
Then, after he presented the drinks to me, in an attempt to back pedal, offered ice.
When I told him, he should have offered this, before presenting the poured drinks to me , he should have offered, he shrugged his shoulders and smiled at me blankly.
Made me feel like I was being offered pig's slop.
I had the misery of working at the attached hotel, some twenty five years ago.
Seems , service hasn't improved and in fact , gone downhill.
The host was very nice, however the food just wasn't in line with the prices. It was also completely empty, making it a slightly eerie atmosphere. The sauces were also in packets, which weren't very good. Has the potential to be a great place to dine out.
Shocking. Great location but needs warm lighting within pub. Could here a pin drop on entry. Looks run down within beer garden. Beer had funny taste. Has potential to be fantastic.
Lovely pub and nice food; nearby road is busy which some people may not like the sound of cars if outside.
Cute with beams in amazing building. Was deserted on a Thursday for some reason.
Not bad but pen and paper for track and trace record. Order at the bar no table service and no masks. Plenty of outside space, but outdoor furniture very shabby and dirty. It's a lovely pub in a great spot but not made the most of. Also not a great drinks selection.
Quiet, brilliant pub, clean and cosy, food was superb, staff was brilliant
I do recomand it!!
