Quick Facts About The Tally Ho, Lewes
Strengths:
1. Friendly staff: Many reviewers noted that the staff at The Tally Ho were welcoming and made them feel at home. This is an important strength for any establishment, as it contributes to a positive atmosphere and encourages customers to return.
2. Home cooked meals: Several customers praised the home cooked meals at The Tally Ho. This indicates that the pub takes pride in their food and ensures that it is of good quality. Offering traditional pub food can also be a strength, as it appeals to a wide range of customers.
3. Reasonable prices: One reviewer mentioned that the drinks at The Tally Ho are priced lower compared to those in Lewes Town center. This can be a significant strength, as customers are often looking for affordable options when dining out. By offering competitive prices, The Tally Ho attracts customers who may otherwise choose to go elsewhere.
4. Live sports and pool table: Having live sports and a pool table can be a strength for The Tally Ho. This can attract customers who enjoy watching sports games with a group of friends or playing pool while enjoying their drinks. Providing these forms of entertainment can enhance the overall pub experience and encourage customers to stay longer.
Weaknesses:
1. Negative experience with staff: One reviewer mentioned an incident where a staff member named Clayton Page allegedly spat in their drink. While this may be an isolated incident, it is nevertheless a significant weakness as it reflects poorly on the pub in terms of staff behavior and customer service. It is important for the management to address any such issues and ensure that all staff members adhere to high standards of professionalism and customer satisfaction.
2. Influence of other nearby pubs: One reviewer mentioned that The Tally Ho has been negatively impacted by the presence of other nearby pubs, specifically Gulivers and Sandfords. While not explicitly stated, it can be inferred that these pubs may offer stronger competition in terms of ambiance, quality of food, or overall customer experience. This is a weakness for The Tally Ho, as it indicates that there may be areas where they can improve to better compete in the local market.
3. Small group turnout: One reviewer mentioned that they booked for a group of 12 but only 7 people turned up. Although the pub welcomed them warmly and provided good service, this may indicate a weak point in their promotional and reservation system. The Tally Ho may need to work on their communication with customers, ensuring that bookings are confirmed and that accurate group sizes are recorded to avoid any potential disappointment or confusion.
4. Lack of modern amenities: One reviewer mentioned that The Tally Ho offers a traditional pub experience and does not have a "gastropub" atmosphere. While this may be a strength for some customers who appreciate the old-fashioned charm, it can also be a weakness for those who prefer more modern amenities or a more upscale dining experience. The Tally Ho may need to consider updating their decor or adding additional features to cater to a wider range of customer preferences.

Really nice traditional pub with live sports and pool table.
We booked for a group of 12 to have lunch today at the Tally Ho. Sadly only 7 of us turned up, but we were warmly welcomed and served with efficiency and warmth. WE would certainly go again
I visit Tally Ho specifically for their 'Ham, Egg & Chips' the lady cooks the most crispiest thick chips, eggs to perfection and the Ham is extremely good quality, thick and tasty.
A very lovely home cooked meal and very reasonable priced.
A pub that makes you feel welcome, offering drinks a lower prices compared to Lewes Town centre, and the food is excellent, pleasant polite staff, above all a that is a nice place to be.
It takes you back a bit, no gastropub here. Just good old-fashioned pub food and beer. Is it on the Meredian?
