One strength of Abigail's Place is its location. The tearoom is situated between the main shopping area and the cathedral, making it a convenient spot for shoppers and tourists alike. Its placement away from the bustling main street also offers a peaceful setting for patrons to relax and enjoy their meal. Additionally, the tearoom is described as a hidden treasure, suggesting that it may offer a unique and lesser-known experience for visitors.
The atmosphere of Abigail's Place is consistently praised in the comments. Patrons comment on the tearoom's quaint, homely, and cosy ambiance, making it an inviting place to spend time. Mention is made of a fire being lit on a cold February afternoon, further contributing to the welcoming and comforting atmosphere. The tearoom is also described as calm and relaxing, making it an ideal spot for catch-ups with close friends.
Another strength of Abigail's Place is its menu. The comments suggest that the tearoom offers a decent selection of dishes, ranging from sandwiches and snacks to main meals, desserts, and cakes. Despite its strengths, there are a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments that should be considered. One comment notes that the bread used for the sandwiches was not very fresh on a Sunday. While this could be a one-time occurrence, it suggests that the tearoom may need to pay attention to the freshness of its ingredients to maintain quality consistently.
Another potential weakness is the availability of parking. While the tearoom is described as hidden and tucked away, the nearby parking options are limited. Patrons without disabled badges may find it challenging to find parking close to the tearoom, which could be inconvenient for some customers.
Overall, Abigail's Place appears to be a charming tearoom with several strengths that make it an attractive option. Its location, atmosphere, menu, service, and pricing are all highlighted as positive aspects. However, it is worth considering the potential weaknesses regarding the freshness of ingredients and limited nearby parking.

Hidden gem of a tearoom, just off the main street, near to the Cathedral. They had the fire going, so it was cosy and welcoming on a cold February afternoon. Calm and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a catch up with close friends. Cream tea was excellent and well priced. Staff were polite and attentive.
We had the afternoon tea. Good value for what you get, and the cake and scone were lovely. The service was quick, and there is an outside area that would be nice in the summer. The sandwiches were nice, but the bread wasn't very fresh (but it was a Sunday)
What a wonderful warm welcome from 2 super hostesses on this wet and wintry lunchtime. I loved my table outside for this stunning view. Fabulous coffee followed by the most exquisite Welsh rarebit I have eaten, soft melting texture with tons of flavour. Came with top quality bacon too. My last meal out before tier 4 and what a treat.
Lovely outdoor patio overlooking a quiet green space and the cathedral. In the afternoon the tables are in the sun which is perfect for an afternoon coffee or hot choc or even a cheeky glass of wine.
Sat outside in a lovely spot at the end of a gorgeous arcade & very near the Abbey. Enjoyed a delicious home made stilton, leek & mushroom pie with a soft topping. Tap water was available. My first choice item on the menu was not available on that day. The waitress was brilliant. She was very cheerful & obliging. Nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend & I hope to visit again some time. I did not check if there were toilets as I was visiting the Abbey & knew they had nice washrooms l.
Good food as always, happy staff as always, very reasonable price, always pleased when I visit
