Quick Facts About Astwood House Chinese Takeaway
Overall, the comments about Astwood House Chinese Takeaway place highlight a mixture of positive and negative experiences. In terms of strengths, the comments mention that the portion sizes are good and the food is prepared quickly. Additionally, some customers mention that the food is always tasty and the prices are reasonable. The counter assistant is also described as pleasant, indicating good customer service. However, there are also several weaknesses that are mentioned in the comments.
One weakness that is mentioned is the lack of spice on the salt and pepper chicken. While the overall experience was decent, one customer felt that the dish could have used more spice. This suggests that the seasoning may be inconsistent or lacking in some dishes.
Another weakness that is highlighted in the comments is a decline in food standards over the past twelve months. One long-time customer mentions that orders often have missing dishes and when they called to raise the issue, they were met with a dismissive and unhelpful attitude from the staff. This indicates a lack of consistency in the quality of service and food.
There are also comments about specific dishes being of poor quality. One customer describes the spare ribs as being inedible, with no meat and only bones. They also mention that the salt king prawns were dry and tasteless, and the chicken chop suey was bland and watery. These descriptions indicate a lack of attention to detail when preparing these dishes and suggest a decline in the overall quality of the food.
Another weakness that is mentioned is a lack of clarity in the menu. One customer ordered a prawn and char sui pork chow mein but found that it was cooked with chili, which they did not expect or enjoy. They also mention that there was no indication on the menu that the dish would be spicy. This lack of communication and inconsistency in menu descriptions could lead to customer dissatisfaction and potentially even health issues for those with allergies.
While there are some positive comments about the food and service, the negative comments regarding the decline in food standards and missing dishes suggest a potential lack of consistency at Astwood House Chinese Takeaway place. The issues with specific dishes and lack of clarity in the menu also indicate a need for improvement in the attention to detail and communication with customers. By addressing these weaknesses and maintaining the strengths mentioned in the comments, Astwood House Chinese Takeaway place can work towards providing a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience for their customers.

First time and it was a decent experience. Portion sizes were good and the meal was ready quicker than anticipated. Maybe a bit more spice on the salt and pepper chicken wouldn't have gone a miss.
My local Chinese perfect and tasty as always got order alot quicker then time told to thank you astwood house.
Sadly after 12 years being a regular customer we will no longer be using. Food standard has dropped in the last twelve months. Orders often missing dishes. When we called to query the gentleman said it was not his problem and hung up the phone. There are so many takeaways to choose from so it seems unusual to have this attitude.
Food is prepared quickly and is always tasty.
Appaling. Never eaten here before and never will again. Probably the worst Chinese we have ever had. Spare ribs 6 of were inedible, all bone no meat whatsoever. Salt king prawns, dry and tasteless. Chicken chop suey bland and watery. I could go on but what’s the point it was simply ghastly never again.
Decided to try somewhere different for my Chinese takeaway and it was both good and bad, the counter assistant was pleasant, food quality good and fast service.
The bad was from seeing the reviews and seeing the rating I ordered bbq spare ribs they were just ok nothing special and a prawn and char sui pork chow mein, they didn't add the char sui and the prawns were cooked in a chilli sauce which became inedible the more you ate too much chilli and I have never had a chow mein with chilli in it before maybe just their style?
But not a traditional chow mein taste and there was no indication from the menu that it was cooked with chilli I could have been allergic to chilli some people are.
For the money it cost for average food I will not be going there again will try somewhere else next time.
Love the food here, they are very reasonable priced but the food is superb, easily the best Chinese Food in and around Redditch. They don't delivery and it isn't a Just Eat, which is a good thing in my opinion because quite often the quality and ingredients suffer to maintain a profit, no worries of that here, portions are good. Lovely people too, and if you have any preference of changes they are happy accommodate. Enjoy!
Very good food.
