Best TL Reviews

Not sure about the rooms. I just popped in for a quick drink. Friendly welcoming atmosphere.
Roaring real fire like the old days. The new Staff seem very lovely and pleasant. Seemed to be quite a few in eating, which on Christmas Eve is a very good sign. Great to see. I will be back.
A huge thanks to Seamus and his team. Fourteen of us celebrated our Golden Wedding with lunch there last Sunday. They looked after us royally, even though we were noisy and half had forgotten what they ordered! The food, service and friendliness were excellent and really made this occasion special for my wife and myself. I would not hesitate to recommend this inn to anyone, either for a celebration or just a nice meal. Thank you again Seamus and team.
What a superb place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was good and the room was very comfortable. The prices of everything were very good also. Needless to say we will be back again soon.
Shamus and staff were amazing. We had a few drinks and a meal before going to the Cathedral. I had the best steak I have ever eaten. We also stayed over and the room was clean, spacious and we even got to see the starlings from our bedroom window. I would definitely recommend this little gem and we will be back. If you are looking for a stay over while visiting Ripon or somewhere for a family meal or Sunday lunch, this is the place to go.
Went for a Mothers Day meal and have to say it was disgusting. The starter was nice but the main was horrible. Older woman with dark hair was very rude, not very polite or welcoming. When I ordered I wasn't told there was an option of chips or mash, food arrived and it was cooked frozen chips and a not very nice mushroom pie. The veg looked like a token gesture, literally three tiny bits of carrot and two bits of parsnip, the gravy was like water and food was not hot. Complained to the server and she was rude again, manger came over and looked at me like I was dirt. Very poor experience and we will definitely not be going back. My parents food didn't look very appetising, roast potatoes were rock hard, no colour to them and the pork was very chewy and bland. I understand that it was Mothers Day and busy but we arrived late afternoon and the majority of people had left already. The service and food was very poor. Not a very nice experience at all. When leaving the restaurant the manager looked me up and down like I was something he had stood in. If I could leave you a zero * rating I would. Sadly, we felt like we had wasted our money. Very poor experience that ruined our day.
A really lovely pub and accomodation.
Rooms are newly and stylishly decorated, comfortable. The bar itself is cosy with a good selection of beer. The restaurant has a great menu and the food is really good.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, within no time at all it felt like staying with family.
The pub is conveniently located close to Ripon and Fountains Abbey. Highly recommend.
Went for Sunday lunch after reading the great reviews. 5 of us ate but unfortunately the food was a let down. Very little veg, 2 slices of carrot and 2 slices of roast parsnip. Pork was fatty as was the beef. Turkey had no stuffing. We kept expecting more veg to come out but none arrived. Not very often I have a Sunday lunch and leave disappointed but in this case I drove home hungry
Stayed here last year while riding the coast to coast route, really helpful and friendly host who helped us out last minute with a room for the night.
Food and drink was amazing would definitely recommend!
