Quick Facts About Black Horse
The Black Horse Place is a pub in Somerset that has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One strength of the Black Horse Place is its lovely ancient ambiance. The pub is described as having a huge inglenook fireplace and being a quaint 17th-century village pub that has not been significantly altered for decades. This gives the pub a traditional and historic feel, which many commenters appreciate. Additionally, the pub has outdoor spaces, including a large garden, where patrons can enjoy their drinks and live music. The presence of live music adds to the overall experience and enjoyment of the pub.
Another strength is the selection of ales, ciders, and real ciders offered at the Black Horse Place. Commenters highlight the good selection and quality of drinks available. The presence of beers on gravity and hand pump further adds to the authenticity and appeal of the pub.
The Black Horse Place is also known for its pub grub and snacks. The menu may be small, but it offers options like rolls, ploughman's, and chips. Reviewers mention that the food looked good, even though they did not try it themselves. This suggests that the pub takes pride in its food offerings and presents them in an appealing manner.
The pub also has a large car park, which is a convenience for patrons who drive to the establishment. This is particularly beneficial for those who may want to enjoy a few drinks without worrying about finding parking nearby.
Despite these strengths, there are a few weaknesses to consider. One comment states that the pub has a very small menu, mostly consisting of rolls and baguettes. While this may be suitable for some patrons, others may prefer a more extensive food selection.
Another weakness highlighted by a reviewer is that the pub can get very busy. This may make it difficult to find a table or enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, especially during peak times. However, the busyness can also be seen as a testament to the popularity and appeal of the Black Horse Place.
In conclusion, the Black Horse Place has several strengths that make it an attractive pub for patrons. The lovely ancient ambiance, good selection of ales and ciders, outdoor spaces, and pub grub options are all positive aspects of the establishment. However, the small menu and potential busyness can be seen as weaknesses. Overall, the Black Horse Place appears to be a charming and popular pub in Somerset with a loyal customer base.

This has got to be the best pub in Somerset; lovely building, good selection of ales and ciders, super location - it’s a proper local country pub and there are few of them left!
We did a 8 mile walk and stopped at this cute lovely little pub , the garden round the back is huge and they had a live band playing , really good ???????? had a lush Pimm's :) all over really great , the toilets were really clean to and had all the good reminders of 2 metre distance , and washing your hands ???? also like to add that you just take a seat and the staff will come to you and take your order and then bring your drinks/food to you :) payed by contactless .
A lovely proper pub. We popped in for a quick drink while on a walk. It's great sitting outside in the garden. They had live music on the day we went (Sunday)
Brilliant choice of real Ales and premium Larger's. They also do meals and snacks and although we didn't try any, they looked really good. It was very busy as well, so looks like it's a popular place. I've been back in again (6/6/2022). I'm pleased to report it it as good as ever. We sat outside in the garden this afternoon and was really lovely. It was a bit quiet but what do you expect on a Monday. Definitely worth a visit.
