The Bread & Cheese Pub has a combination of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Some of its strengths include nice decor, excellent service, delicious food, and accommodating staff. However, there are also weaknesses such as high prices, issues with food quality, and poor service on certain occasions.
One of the strengths mentioned in the comments is the nice decor of the pub. This suggests that the atmosphere and ambiance of the pub are enjoyable and visually appealing to customers. A well-decorated pub can enhance the overall dining experience and make customers feel comfortable and relaxed.
Another strength highlighted in the comments is the excellent service, particularly from the waitress Tabitha. Good service is a crucial aspect of any dining experience, as it can greatly influence customers' satisfaction. Having friendly and attentive staff members like Tabitha can make customers feel well taken care of and likely to return in the future.
The comments also mention that the food at the pub is delicious. This positive feedback suggests that the Bread & Cheese Pub offers tasty and enjoyable meals that customers appreciate. Delicious food can be a strong selling point for any restaurant or pub, as it is one of the primary reasons why people choose to dine out.
Additionally, the pub is commended for accommodating dietary restrictions, specifically for providing gluten-free options for a customer. On the other hand, there are weaknesses mentioned in the comments that should be addressed by the Bread & Cheese Pub. One weakness is the high prices, especially for the roast dinner and additional items like pig in blankets and cauliflower cheese. This may deter some potential customers, as high prices can make the pub less affordable and less appealing compared to other options.
Another weakness identified in the comments is the inconsistent food quality. While some customers praised the food for being delicious, others mentioned issues with dry and inedible elements of their meals. Inconsistent food quality can lead to customer dissatisfaction and negative reviews, which can harm the reputation of the pub.

Nice decor here. We ordered from the new menu which was a little pricey. I chose the beef ciabatta, the filling was tasty but the ciabatta was a bit dry. I had the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. The service was excellent, our waitress Tabitha was delightful!
Lovely little pub. Went around 3pm. Drinks nice and cheap! Food was delicious. Fish and chips best I’ve had in a pub in a while fish had some bones but I take that as fresh fish not frozen. My friend had the burger and was stunning. The chips are beautiful. Staff are lovely. Mostly left us alone which I prefer rather than staff constantly bothering you.
Will definitely be coming back!!
Recently attended a function (Hen Do!) at the Bread and Cheese, and they could not be more accommodating and helpful! Really was a wonderful evening, we had a whole area to ourselves, good music with a fabulous singer, we were well looked after by Jack who was serving us and arranging drinks and food. Wanted to especially thank the chef for arranging so many dietary friendly foods for everyone, especially for myself as I’m gluten free, the chef took the time to explain all the foods that I could eat and made sure there was no cross contamination and everything was kept separate and safe for me to have! - Everyone had such a wonderful evening and we can’t thank the staff enough! - highly recommend !
3 of us girls visited early December for lunch. It was quiet, letting us chat freely. Lovely young lady answered any questions about the menu (sorry can't remember your name 3 weeks on), and attentive enough.
Pleasant food but a pricey menu, so would visit again but as a treat.
We love coming here at the end of a walk. Very convenient location. Some friendly staff and food is good! Some issues with staff drinks knowledge and we find the menu expensive. But. It's good-we go fairly regularly
Went in on a Friday lunchtime with several family members. Issue with the heating in the main restaurant area, we were shown to a very comfortable and nice table in the bar instead. I initially thought the lunch menu prices were a little high. However, the meals were very substantial, well cooked and tasty. Maybe a bit too much for me, others may welcome the portions though. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Really disappointed first visit.
Sunday early evening for dinner.
Pub and restaurant very quiet. Had called in advance to check they were serving a roast dinner and they were.
It was £17 for one meat roast or £20 for 2 meats. Pig in blankets and cauliflower cheese were £5 each extra. I know prices have increased but I think that’s a pretty pricey roast dinner for a pub !
Kids roast dinner £10.
We were really disappointed with our meals. I will say the Yorkshire puddings were lovely and the meat was ok but everything else was dry or inedible. The waitress cleared the plates and apologised when I said we were disappointed. The manger came over and offered us free desserts and said she would apply a discount to our bill.
We tried to order desserts and 2 that we chose were not available so we opted for a child’s ice cream and a raspberry dessert for my daughter.
Which were both lovely.
We received the receipt we had still been charged for the kids ice cream and no discount so again I had to say something at which point they reduced my bill by £6. Still £80 for 2 adults and 2 kids for 4 extremely poor roast dinners
and 1 child dessert a couple of drinks and a lemonade. ! Never again.
We booked for Saturday evening for a family meal to celebrate a 70th Birthday and what a disappointment. The restaurant being empty at 7pm on a Saturday should have been a sign. Baring in mind we were the only table, the service was extremely poor, no food check backs and had to find staff to ask for more drinks. After being rushed to order because they wanted to shut the kitchen, the food finally came out in dribs an drabs. Unfortunately when it did arrive, it was awful with the majority being sent back or not eaten. Several family members ordered the steak, which at over £30.00 you expect a decent quality, far from, even when they did finally send out the correct cooked ones. The food was as if it had been cooked, sat for a while and then recooked. For the amount charged it was disgraceful all round. When mentioned to the staff about our complaints, we were advised ‘yeah we know’, that about sums up the quality. This pub has potential but the cheap chains down the road would have been better. Will not be retuning and strongly recommend no one else does. Extremely expensive, poor quality and poor service.
