Quick Facts About The Olde Nook
The Olde Nook place seems to have a number of strengths based on the comments provided. One of the main strengths is the quality and flavor of the food. Multiple comments mention how delicious the ploughman and seafood salad are, describing the dishes as freshly made, generously served, and mouthwateringly presented. This indicates that the cafe takes pride in the quality of their ingredients and preparation. Another strength mentioned is the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Customers feel comfortable and appreciated when visiting the cafe, with one person even mentioning that they were made to feel welcome by the owners. This positive interaction with staff can greatly enhance the overall experience for customers. Additionally, the decor and ambiance of the cafe are praised, with comments about the original old-fashioned beams, fireplace, and cozy atmosphere. These elements contribute to a unique and charming setting for customers to enjoy their meals. The quick and efficient service is also mentioned as a positive aspect, with one comment stating that the food was served hot and the service was good.
However, there are also some weaknesses that can be inferred from the comments. One weakness is the limited space and difficulty accessing the upstairs area. Although the comment mentions the charm of the old building, the narrow and steep stairs can be a challenge for customers who are less mobile or have limited mobility. Another weakness mentioned is the feeling of not being welcome at a certain time. The comment describes staff members getting too close and not being able to order certain meals, which made the customers feel hungry, thirsty, and cold. This indicates a lack of flexibility and accommodation on the part of the staff, which can negatively impact the overall experience. Additionally, one comment mentions that the place feels a little damp due to it being an old building. This can be off-putting for some customers who prefer a more well-maintained and dry environment.
In terms of pricing, there are mixed comments. One comment mentions that the food is well-priced and good value, while another comment finds the pricing odd. The high price of a cheese and onion panini compared to a full English breakfast, despite the difference in portion size, is seen as questionable by one customer. This inconsistency in pricing may lead to confusion and dissatisfaction among customers.
In summary, The Olde Nook place has strengths in terms of the quality and flavor of their food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the charming decor. However, there are weaknesses related to limited space and accessibility, a lack of flexibility in accommodating customer preferences, the feeling of being unwelcome at certain times, and pricing inconsistencies. By addressing these weaknesses, the cafe can further enhance the overall customer experience and satisfaction.

We loved our ploughman and seafood salad. Freshly made, generously served, deliciously flavoured and mouthwateringly presented. Absolutely a delightful cafe by the cathedral. Highly recommended.
Stumbled upon this little gem one of the mornings before attending a meeting.. it was peaceful & welcoming and I was made to feel so welcome by the owners. I had a pot of tea and a sausage sandwich and they were both lovely. I shall definitely be returning before future meetings :)
I've walked past this place numerous times over the years but due to a couple of places we normally go to being full we popped in and had breakfast.
What a pleasant surprise. The staff were very friendly and the food was well priced and good quality.
Nothing special, arrived approximately 3pm and we felt we weren't welcome as staff appeared to be getting t o close. We chose meals off the menu and were told chef couldn't do them, choose something else! We were hungry, thirsty, and cold, otherwise would have just left, so chose coffee's and sandwiches, which were served with a touch of attitude, and whence paying the bill.
If, you want to get away at a certain time have the curtesy to say to people on arrival, not grasp for custom of two quick coffee's.
Plenty more to choose from, and we won't returning.
Lovely little cafe. Lots of original old fashioned beams and fire place. There are 4 tables downstairs and more upstairs but you need to be fit and mobile to get up the stairs as they're narrow and steep (as you would expect in an old building). Toilets are upstairs too. The food was tasty and hot and service was good
I went with a friend to this place our first visit.
On the whole we were very impressed with everything.
a) We chose to try their afternoon tea for two.
Both our selections of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, & jam were all fresh and served up to us well presented within minutes (fairly quiet Friday afternoon) with as much tea and coffee as we could drink!
b) We thought the quality was more than acceptable, excellent VFM. £18 for the 2 of us!!
c) The place itself was cosy, and 'Bijou'
we sat upstairs enough space for 16,
Which my friend and I thought would be ideal for a small party gathering.
Will definately consider returning to this little gem.
Well worth a visit! ????????????
Very satisfied customer..
