Quick Facts About Brunel's Buttery

Brunel's Buttery has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. The strengths include friendly staff, good service, and a convenient outdoor seating area. However, the weaknesses are quite significant and include negative comments about the food quality, cleanliness, and overall experience.
One strength mentioned by multiple commenters is the friendly and attentive staff. They were described as welcoming and quick to serve customers. This is an important aspect of any dining experience as it can greatly affect customer satisfaction and overall enjoyment.
Another strength mentioned is the outdoor seating area. It was noted as being nice and provided a pleasant atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meals. Outdoor seating can be desirable for customers, especially in good weather, so this is an advantage for Brunel's Buttery.
In terms of weaknesses, the most significant criticism was regarding the food quality. Negative comments include complaints about the taste of the food, specifically the sandwiches being described as unappetizing and even inedible. The warm sandwiches such as bacon baguettes were criticized for having overcooked bacon or being kept warm for too long, resulting in a brittle and tasteless texture. Dry bread without butter was also mentioned, which is ironic considering the establishment's name. Additionally, it was mentioned that some of the dishes, including baked potato and ham, were deemed inedible. These comments highlight serious concerns regarding the quality and taste of the food offered at Brunel's Buttery.
Cleanliness also emerged as a weakness based on the comments. Multiple comments mentioned that the place was "schmuddelig" (dirty) and that there was rubbish everywhere. This suggests a lack of cleanliness and poor maintenance, which can greatly impact the overall perception of the establishment.
Another complaint was about the hot chocolate being grey-looking and tasting awful. The description of requesting more chocolate syrup only to receive a squirt from a bottle highlights a lack of attention to detail and a failure to meet customer expectations. This negative experience with the hot chocolate resulted in the customer throwing it away and vowing not to return.
It is important to note that one positive comment mentioned the reputation of Brunel's Buttery, but other commenters were dissatisfied and felt that the reputation may have been from previous owners. This inconsistency suggests that there may have been changes in ownership or management that have negatively impacted the quality of the food and overall experience.
In conclusion, Brunel's Buttery has some strengths, including friendly staff and a pleasant outdoor seating area. However, the weaknesses are quite significant. Multiple comments criticize the food quality, stating that the sandwiches and other dishes were unappetizing and even inedible. Cleanliness was also mentioned as a concern, with rubbish being observed throughout the establishment. These weaknesses outweigh the strengths and suggest that improvements need to be made in order to provide a better dining experience for customers.

Best TL Reviews

Essen schmeckt nicht. Weder die warmen noch die kalten Sandwich. Pommes total fettig. Der Schinken "ham" ungenießbar. Baked Potato ungenießbar. Das nennt sich Kartoffel? Echt heftig auch der Käse, wie künstlich. Das hat nichts mit Nahrung zu tun. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Es ist überall schmuddelig. Müll liegt überall herum. Warum räumen die Leute ihren Dreck nicht weg? Schade!!!
Das beste Baconsandwich in ganz Bristol
Spotted this small outdoor place on one of my walks in Bristol so I had to stop and try the products. The place is on Museum Street by the quayside on the way to SS Great Britain. It was great to see how many locals stopped for something to eat. I had a coffee with a bacon and egg roll. The staff were attentive and welcoming but also they had a lot of homemade items with very reasonable prices.
Good service, good food.the legend of the breakfast roll is now a reality
The food was unhealthy, but delicious. Where does a sandwich end and a meal begin. I had bacon egg sausage black pudding and hash browns in a roll. Call it what you like it was hard to to eat, but delicious; try it I know you'll like it.
Nice people, good outdoor seating and food served quickly. Chips were great and home made pastie really nice. Maybe would be good to have some gravy or sauce on top or the offer of it when you order. Hope to be back when next passing by!
Heard that this had a good reputation, but sadly it must have been from previous owners. Had a baguette that had either overcooked bacon or it had been kept warm too long. It was brittle and tasteless. Dry bread with (ironically for a "buttery") no butter on. I should have read the fact that on a busy dockside there was no queue. Will avoid in the future.
Today, myself and partner went to Brunel’s buttery, as I has been there years before and had had the best bacon butty ever.
WELL what a disappointment????.
I never generally do reviews but want to warn anyone who is thinking about going. Don’t waste your money. We had a bacon baguette. The bacon was totally incinerated and tasteless. The bread roll didn’t have any butter on, and the egg was like rubber. I should have complained but was embarrassed to do so. WILL NOT BE VISITING AGAIN ????
We were really looking forward to a hot chocolate at the buttery as we have not visited for a long time, it was grey looking and tasted awful. I asked for another spoonful of chocolate which was kindly delivered as s squirt from a squeezy bottle, this made no difference to the taste and unfortunately the hot chocolate ended up in the bin! We will not be returning which is a shame
