Quick Facts About Chung's Chippy

Chung's Chippy place has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In terms of strengths, one major advantage is that they offer low prices and generous portion sizes. This is particularly noteworthy considering the location of the restaurant near Manchester City Center. Customers appreciate the affordable prices and the fact that they get a lot of food for their money.
Another strength of Chung's Chippy is the quick service. Several customers mentioned that their orders were delivered promptly and the food was hot when it arrived. Quick service is always a positive aspect of a restaurant experience, as customers do not want to wait for long periods of time to receive their food.
Additionally, the salt and pepper box dish received positive feedback. Many customers commented that it tasted authentic and flavorful, reminiscent of the dishes they would find in Hong Kong. The combination of different ingredients, such as chips, chicken nuggets, and ribs, was mentioned as unique but delicious. The portion size of the salt and pepper box was also praised, with some customers noting that it was enough to feed two people comfortably.
Furthermore, the Cantonese-speaking staff and chefs were seen as a positive by one customer. This individual, being from Hong Kong, appreciated the authenticity that the use of Cantonese language brought to the restaurant. It gave them confidence in the quality and taste of the food.
On the other hand, there are some weaknesses that should be addressed. One major complaint from a customer was about the chips. They described them as the worst chips they had ever had, claiming they were dry, tasteless, and both dry and oily at the same time. This negative opinion of the chips is significant, especially for a chippy place where chips are typically a staple and one expects them to be well-made.
Another comment mentioned that the batter on the fish was too heavy and oily, taking away from an otherwise enjoyable dish. The customer felt that it should have been crispier rather than greasy. This criticism suggests that there may be inconsistency in the quality of the batter or that it is not prepared with the right technique.
Furthermore, there were a few complaints about the taste and preparation of the Chinese food. One customer expressed disappointment with the quality of the rice, stating that it appeared reheated and overcooked. They found the rice to be hard and inedible. Another customer mentioned that the basic egg fried rice did not meet their expectations as soy sauce was added to it, which they did not typically see in fried rice. They also found the curry and sweet and sour dishes to be too saucy and almost soupy.
Overall, while Chung's Chippy place has some strengths such as affordable prices, large portion sizes, and quick service, there are some areas that need improvement. Specifically, attention should be given to the quality and consistency of the chips, as well as the preparation of the Chinese dishes, particularly the texture of the rice and the balance of sauces. By addressing these weaknesses, Chung's Chippy has the potential to provide a more satisfying dining experience for all its customers.

Prezzi bassi e porzioni abbondanti
Menu ampio peccato solo per aver atteso quasi un'ora...

Our go to Chinese. Our friends visit us from miles away just to eat from here it’s that good. Very cheap considering it’s near Manchester City centre, it’s always quick and the portions are big
Worst chips I’ve ever had.
These chips were dry withered, tasteless and somehow dry and oily. Glad I only ordered chips as I really don’t want to imagine what the rest of their food is like - avoid.
Overall was good - the chips were crispy, peas were good, the actual fish itself was really nice just the batter let it down slightly - was a little bit too heavy and oily rather than crispy.
Would definitely try other things though and wasn’t too bad priced either!
Staffs and Chiefs are speaking Cantonese! That’s when I got my expectations high, I’m from Hong Kong, obviously I will be picky in Chinese food. I have ordered twice from Chung’s first time I ordered the meal for two, second for the 9” salt and pepper box along with beef fried udon.
For the meal for two, nice soup and prawn crackers. The egg fried rice was not bad, but not the typical fried rice I was expecting as I don’t usually see soy sauce added to it, it was not bad tho, just I prefer without soy sauce. The curry and the sweet and sour taste some how like Hong Kong, but less spicy and less sour, I guess foreigners will like it this way, no complaints, I get it. But they were too saucy for me, almost soupy, maybe less sauce will be better!
For the salt and pepper box, holy damn, taste exactly like Hong Kong! In Hong Kong we usually do sale and pepper with squids, pork chop, tofu and shrimp. With chips, chicken nuggets, ribs, absolutely new to me, but absolutely delicious!! It was spicy, flavourful, authentic! Only complaint is the deep fried chick strips or pork idk, too chewy for me, got a sore jaw eating them. The udon taste like Hong Kong as well, recommend adding a bit of sriracha, nice!
Great food, hot and delicious and not to mention the portion is HUGEEE and cheap!!! The salt and pepper box is wayyy enough for two already!
Salt and pepper chips nicest I’ve tasted… drove 4 miles to taste them as a friend told me they were good … will defo do the 4 mile round trip again
Great food very tasty salt&pepper and curry meal ,Highly recomended
Chips are OK that's the best I can say the Chinese food however is awful since the change of ownership I've tried a few and had to throw the majority of it out the rice isn't fresh and appears reheated/overcooked the rice was hard even the basic egg fried rice isn't edible
