Quick Facts About Happy Fish Bar

Happy Fish Bar has several strengths that make it a popular choice for customers. Firstly, it is a family-run establishment that has been serving fish and chips for over 20 years. This long-standing presence in the community speaks to their reputation and reliability. They have a loyal customer base who appreciate the consistency and quality of their food.
Another strength of Happy Fish Bar is their commitment to using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. Customers have praised their use of real potatoes, peeled and cut into chips, as well as the freshly fried fish in batter. This attention to detail and refusal to cut corners sets them apart from other chip shops in the area. They also offer a range of chip shop classics, such as pickled eggs and gherkins, which adds to the authentic experience.
The customer service at Happy Fish Bar is also praised by customers. Many note the warm welcome they receive, even if they are first-time visitors. The staff have been working there for years, which speaks to their dedication and knowledge of the business. This level of customer service adds to the overall positive experience of dining at Happy Fish Bar.
In terms of weaknesses, there are a few issues that have been raised by customers. Some have mentioned that the fish and chips are not as tasty as they used to be, and that the fish sometimes has a funny smell. This inconsistency in the quality of the food is a concern, and could potentially deter customers from returning.
Additionally, there have been comments about the prices being relatively high when compared to other chip shops in Lancashire. While some customers have still chosen to purchase from Happy Fish Bar despite the higher prices, it may deter potential customers who are looking for a more budget-friendly option.
Overall, Happy Fish Bar has many strengths that make it a popular choice among customers. These include their long-standing presence in the community, commitment to using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, and excellent customer service. However, there are some weaknesses to consider, such as inconsistencies in food quality and higher prices compared to other chip shops in the area. Nevertheless, Happy Fish Bar continues to be a well-regarded chip shop in the community, offering quality fish and chips for those looking for a taste of the English classic.

We were hungry and couldn't bother to cook because we were out all day at different meetings. We decided to have a takeaway. A friend recommended this chippy so we went. The prices look high to me when compared with Lancashire prices, but we still bought some fish and chips. When we were eating it, my wife said, "How can Chinese people make such good fish and chips. " I had to agree because it was lovely.
Nice place...staff is ok...fish and chips ???? are OK...they use to be tasty but now it's not that good...sometimes fish has a funny smell...
Great family run fish & chip shop, Have been using this chip shop for well over 20 years and they still do great fish then as the do now. Am surprised they don't have more reviews than what I can see here. Good Quality food for a good price.

It's so lovely to find an establishment with good customer service, staff that have been there for years and still uphold the basic fundamentals of what they have always done.... which is provide good, fresh food with no short cuts as far as fish and chips go. If you want real potatoes, peeled and cut into chips, picked eggs, freshly fried fish in batter and other chip shop yummy's, then this is the place to come. Clean....well managed and a warm welcome even if you're a first timer, you can not go wrong here if you fancy a good English classic which will fill your belly for many hours. This establishment is probably one of the last few locations in central Croydon which refuses to forego quality over convenience, the term 'hidden gem' is an understatement when it comes purchasing to your fish and chips here.
Never tried this chip shop before normally travel up to Limpsfield Rd, all the food in the display cabinet looked amazing nice and crispy with not too much grease, great prices compared to local shops and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Great food definitely my new chip shop of choice
Old-school local chippy serving beautifully cooked fish and delicious hand-cut chips. Nice vintage menu board. Usual gherkins, eggs etc in jars at the back. Batter nice and crispy. Chip portions are large! This place is great!
Prices are great value for money with portions large. Friendly customer service too. We had a large fish and chips split between the two of us. The curry sauce is also the best I’ve had in a long time
