Quick Facts About Market Place Fish & Chips
Market Place Fish & Chips has received a mix of positive and negative comments. This analysis will examine the strengths and weaknesses of the restaurant based on the feedback provided.
Starting with the strengths, many customers have praised the quality of the food. One comment describes the fish as "nice and thick and fluffy," indicating that the fish is cooked well and has a good texture. Additionally, another customer mentions that the chips are cooked properly and not anemic, suggesting that they are crispy and tasty. The mention of the "best mushy peas" indicates that this side dish is a standout and adds to the overall positive dining experience.
Another strength is the friendly and efficient staff. One customer mentions that the staff members were "lovely and friendly," and another comment states that the staff allowed them to taste test a new range of Chinese food before buying. This demonstrates good customer service and a willingness to accommodate customer preferences.
Furthermore, there is a positive mention of the overall experience at Market Place Fish & Chips. Customer feedback includes comments such as "great place for food," "best fish and chips," and "always love the food in here." These statements indicate that the food consistently meets or exceeds customers' expectations, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.
However, the restaurant also has several weaknesses that could be addressed. One customer criticizes the staff for "messing around near the fryers chatting and giggling" while customers were waiting to be served. This suggests a lack of professionalism and a need for better time management to ensure efficient service.
In terms of the food, there are a few recurring negative comments. One customer mentions that the batter for the fish could have been thicker, indicating that some improvement is needed in the preparation of this dish. Another customer complains of "scabby crunchy bits for chips," suggesting that the quality of the chips leaves something to be desired. Additionally, another guest claims that the chips tasted like "mashed potatoes" and "old oil," implying that the cooking technique or oil used needs improvement.
Price is also mentioned as a weakness. One customer mentions that the portions have become smaller as the prices increased. This could potentially deter repeat customers if they feel that they are not receiving good value for their money.
In conclusion, despite some positive feedback regarding the quality of the food and friendly staff, Market Place Fish & Chips has several areas that need improvement. These include better staff management, addressing issues with the batter and chips, and possibly reconsidering pricing and portion sizes. By focusing on these weaknesses, the restaurant can elevate the overall dining experience and better meet customers' expectations.

Great place for food. I had a small fish and chips with mushy peas all piping hot and chips fresh however, a few things to go improve on firstly, when I went to be served I saw behind the lady serving me that they had a vape on the food work top on display to be seen not that I don’t mind people camping but not whilst at work and especially not whilst working with food. Secondly, the batter for the fish could of been thicker and finally, the staff where messing around near the fryers chatting and giggling whilst people were waiting to be served.
Other than that a great place for food and not too expensive.
Awful..scabby crunchy bits for chips, hardly any fish just all oily batter, peas were nice and hot though! Never been before and will never ever go again.
With hand on heart I can honestly say this is the worst food I have ever tasted, the chips are flavourless, the pies are tasteless and old, I will never eat here again.
OMG, best fish and chips ???? fish nice thivk and fluffy, chips cooked properly and not anemic (perfect), mushy peas were best i have tasted. Highly recommend this chippy for eat in lunch .
Visited this place during a day trip to Chesterfield and having read some of the reviews (which weren't that great) we decided to give them a try. I'm not sure what some people's expectations are but we thought that the fish and chips were lovely!! We had the cod and chips special and the portions were very ample. The chips were lovely and the cod was beautiful and white with lovely crisp batter. The mushy peas were the best we had ever had (real proper peas). The staff were lovely and friendly and we will definitely be back. Would highly recommend this place!!
Absolutely excellent - The staff were really friendly - and they had just brought a new range of Chinese food - which they let me test before buying. The food was delicious - my friend had fish and chips and I had beef in black bean sauce - generous portions. Quickly and efficiently served. Will definitely visit again 10/10
Always love the food in here.
The portions do seem to have gotten smaller as the prices have increased but the standard of food has never faltered.
The fish isn't greasy and has a fluffy, crispy batter that coats perfectly flakey fish.
The food is worth going for, so stop by if you're ever after a spot of lunch.
Expensive, small portions and the chips were so soft that couldn't get them with the fork, was like eating mashed potatoes, tasted like old oil
