Quick Facts About Peking Garden
Peking Garden Restaurant has received mostly positive feedback from customers, highlighting its strengths in terms of staff friendliness, excellent service, high-quality food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere. However, there are a few weaknesses mentioned, such as a lack of attentive service in one instance, noise levels, and a decline in service over time. In this analysis, we will further examine the strengths and weaknesses of Peking Garden Restaurant.
One of the main strengths of Peking Garden is the friendliness and welcoming nature of the staff. Customers appreciate the staff's effort to make them feel welcome and the extra mile they go to provide excellent service. This not only enhances the dining experience but also encourages customers to recommend the restaurant to others.
Another strength is the high-quality food offered at Peking Garden. Customers consistently mention the deliciousness of the food, including dishes like crispy aromatic duck, special fried rice, sesame prawn toast, crispy seaweed, and beef in black bean sauce. The portion sizes are also mentioned to be substantial, satisfying customers without overwhelming them. Additionally, the restaurant's food standards rating of 5/5 is a reassuring factor for customers, providing confidence in the quality and safety of the food served.
Reasonable prices are also highlighted as a strength. Customers appreciate the high quality of the restaurant while noting that the prices are reasonable. This combination appeals to customers who value both the dining experience and affordability.
The atmosphere of Peking Garden is praised as amazing by some customers. They mention that the ambiance and overall dining experience make it worth visiting. The positive atmosphere adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal and encourages customers to return.
Additionally, positive feedback is received for the Sunday buffet offered at Peking Garden. Customers mention the great selection of dishes and the affordable price of only £12.50 for adults. This offers customers a chance to try a variety of dishes and makes it an attractive option for a leisurely Sunday meal.
Despite these strengths, a few weaknesses are mentioned in the comments. One customer experienced poor service when a waiter did not listen to their request for water and instead ordered a beer for them. This type of oversight demonstrates a lack of attentive service and can negatively impact the overall dining experience.
Similarly, another comment mentions noise levels due to birthday groups and young children running between tables. Excessive noise can detract from the dining experience and make it less enjoyable for customers seeking a peaceful atmosphere.
Another weakness mentioned is the gradual decline in service noticed by a group of regular customers. These customers mention a lack of attentive service and an imposed service charge on their bill. This decline in service may contribute to their decision to go elsewhere in the future.
Overall, while Peking Garden Restaurant has several strengths, such as friendly staff, excellent service, high-quality food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, there are some weaknesses, including instances of poor service, noise levels, and a decline in service over time. These weaknesses should be addressed by the restaurant to maintain its positive reputation and customer satisfaction.

Staff lovely and would highly recommend loads of options and food amazing all the staff make a special effort to make you feel welcome and Robert, Ray and Leon always go the extra mile.
Took my wife on the evening of 4th July. We both had a wonderful meal. Service was excellent and even the after dinner brandy was done properly (glass warmed). Considering the high quality of this restaurant the prices are very reasonable. It is obvious that many of the customers in that night were well known by the staff which is always a good sign. It was a perfect evening all round. Thank you Peking Garden.
On behalf of everyone at Readings Property Services we had a wonderful time at Peking Gardens.
Our waiter was exemplary. Very funny and hospitable.
We’d definitely would go back and couldn’t recommend highly enough.
The food was also to a high standard.
Thanks again.
I read other reviews before I decided to attend and the icing on the cake was the food standards rating which is 5/5. The restaurant is old fashioned - YES, but by whose standards? It's a TRADITIONAL Chinese restaurant, and I think you'll find most Chinese restaurants with such decor (take yourself to China Town if you don't believe me). My other half and I wanted to go out for dinner last Friday and it was a last minute decision. at 9:30 I called to check it was still o.k to visit and they happily obliged. As soon as we visited the staff were courteous and couldn't do enough to accommodate us. It was fairly quiet as it was so late, there were three other sets of diners. We had crispy aromatic duck, special fried rice, sesame prawn toast, crispy seaweed and beef in Black Bean Sauce. The portions were substantial and everything was just the right amount of food (big portions doesn't necessarily mean good food!). Their house red wine was nice, we didn't have desserts. We got chatting to the waiter who was very interested in the fact we'd just moved to the area, and where we both worked. He was lovely. I really enjoyed the meal and will definitely be back.
The food was lovely and the service was good.
The only issue I had was with one waiter who decided to listen to the guy next to me in our group who repeatedly talked over me to order me a beer when I kept asking for water. I mean the beer was nice, but seriously! Take the order from the person ordering rather than listening to a drunk guy 'Oh she'll have a beer.'.
We hadn't visited this restaurant since its health rating was reduced to two . It now has a healthy five, so we thought we would try the Sunday buffet. The food was good with an excellent choice. Unlike some the food is served in small trays and dishes and frequently replenished, so it is fresh and hot. Enjoyed with a modestly priced bottle of plonk this was an enjoyable and very reasonably priced alternative to meat and two veg.
Amazing atmosphere, staff are really lovely, and the food is so tasty you’ll be thinking about eating there two days maybe three in a row! Definitely worth a visit, their Sunday buffet has a great selection too! Only £12.50 for adults!
Not value for money, food no more than average yet pricey. Very noisy inside with 2 birthday groups and young children running between tables. Service poor but they never forget to put the service charge on the bill. We are a group of 9-10 who've used the restaurant for years and notice it's gradual decline. We've agreed to go elsewhere from now on, Peking Gardens loss.
