Quick Facts About Piccolo Bar
Piccolo Bar has a mix of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In terms of strengths, one positive aspect is the wide range of sandwiches and baguettes offered at the bar. This provides customers with options for a variety of tastes and preferences. Additionally, the Belgian Waffle with ice cream is highly recommended and seen as a very enjoyable sweet.
The location of the bar is also appreciated, situated right on the promenade with excellent views of the Bristol channel. This allows customers to sit outside and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere while watching the waves crashing onto the beach below. The availability of both indoor and outdoor seating options is another positive aspect, giving customers the choice to enjoy their experience according to the weather conditions.
Moreover, the staff of Piccolo Bar are described as very friendly, which is seen as a significant positive factor. Friendly staff are often key in creating a positive customer experience and can contribute greatly to the overall atmosphere of the place.
However, there are several weaknesses mentioned in the comments as well. One common complaint is the issue of echoing voices in the room. This could be due to the acoustics of the space or the layout of the bar. Regardless, this can be an unpleasant experience for customers and may hinder their enjoyment of the place.
Another weakness is the mixed quality of service. While one server is described as lovely, another is said to have told customers that they have wasted their time coming to Piccolo Bar. This reflects poorly on the overall customer service of the place and can greatly impact the perception of customers.
Price is another aspect that is perceived as a weakness by customers. The cost of food is seen as expensive, such as the £3 price for a custard slice. Additionally, one customer mentions paying £18 for 2 black coffees and 2 basic cheese toasties, which they perceive to be overpriced. This may deter potential customers from visiting the bar or make them think twice about their spending while there.
Furthermore, some complaints are made about the quality of food and beverages. One customer expresses disappointment that their soft ice cream melted quickly, making a mess on their cone, face, hand, coat, and the pavement. This suggests an issue with the consistency or quality of the ice cream served. Additionally, another customer mentions that the coffee is very hot, comparing the cafe to a greenhouse. While this may be a personal preference, it is worth noting as it could impact the comfort of customers while consuming their beverages.
Lastly, the limited choice of food is mentioned in one comment. Although desserts and cakes are plentiful, the options for main meals or savory dishes appear to be lacking. This could limit the appeal of the bar to customers who are looking for a more substantial meal.
Overall, while there are certain positive aspects of Piccolo Bar such as the range of sandwiches, friendly staff, and picturesque location, there are also several weaknesses including echoing voices, mixed service, high prices, issues with food and beverages, and a limited food menu. These factors should be taken into consideration by potential customers when deciding whether to visit the bar.

I don't know if it was the place or the people but everyone's voices just echoed around the room.
One of the servers was lovely but the other practically told us we've wasted our time coming to Porthcawl.
Food was very expensive, £3 or so for a custard slice.
The Belgian Waffle with ice-cream is a very enjoyable sweet, and worth trying. The Piccolo Bar serves a wide range of sandwiches and baggettes, with a variety of ices. You can sit outside and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere watching the waves crashing onto the beach, below.
Why, when it was 10 degrees in October, did my soft ice cream melt all over the cone, my face, my hand, my coat and the pavement???
Most of it went in the bin.
You would think they would have learned how to get the mix right by now.
Expensive too.
A great place right on the prom to sit down for a cuppa and/or snack. Excellent views looking out over the Bristol channel over towards Somerset/North Devon. You can sit indoors or outdoors (if the weather is good). Definitely recommend.
Staff were very friendly otherwise there'd be no stars. Paid £18 for 2 black coffee and 2 basic cheese toasties.
Nice coffee. Very hot though as this cafe is like a greenhouse!
Lovely little place for a coffee and cake etc
Very busy Cafe on the Promenade. Not a big choice of food but desserts and cakes a plenty. We had the tea cake which was a little small bit ok.
