Quick Facts About Royal Parade Cafe/Filey Bay Cafe

Royal Parade Cafe/Filey Bay Cafe, located on the seafront in Filey, has its strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. In terms of strengths, the location of the cafe is highly praised. Being right on the front overlooking the water is a great spot, providing customers with a nice view. Additionally, the food quality is commendable, specifically the fish and chips. The fish is described as huge, freshly caught, and tasty. The chips are also mentioned as being well done and not anaemic. The curry sauce is particularly good as well. The cafe also offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, with bigger tables outside and more seating inside.
However, there are several weaknesses that have been pointed out. One major weakness is the high prices. Being located on the seafront, the prices are expected to be expensive. For instance, fish and chips cost £10.25, a cappuccino costs £3.50, and a chip barm costs £5. Additionally, customers feel that some items are overpriced, such as the portion of chips for £3. Another weakness is the service. One customer mentioned that the person serving was rude about queuing from the wrong side, despite the lack of signage and other customers waiting. Another customer expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in food service and suggested that the kitchen may need better management. It is important for a cafe to have good service to provide a positive customer experience.
Furthermore, there are issues with availability. One customer mentioned that the cafe had run out of fish by 1:00 PM, which is not a good sign for a fish and chips establishment. Another customer expressed confusion over the lack of fish and chips available despite it being a Wednesday lunch time with plenty of people around. This inconsistency in availability can lead to customer disappointment and frustration.
Lastly, some customers feel that the cafe is not worth the price and suggest taking a picnic instead. One customer felt ripped off paying £5 for a chip buttie, while another mentioned the waste of money in serving chips in a cardboard box instead of wrapping them in paper. These comments highlight concerns over value for money.
In conclusion, Royal Parade Cafe/Filey Bay Cafe has strengths such as its great location, tasty fish and chips, and options for indoor and outdoor seating. However, there are weaknesses in regards to high prices, inconsistent service, availability issues, and lack of value for money. These areas should be addressed in order to improve the overall experience for customers and ensure a strong reputation for the cafe.

Right on the front overlooking the water, it's in a great spot. Food, as is usual when on the seafront is pretty pricey: £10.25 for fish and chips, £3.50 for a cappuccino and £5 for a chip barm. So yeah it costs a bit. The fish was huge though! Freshly caught and freshly fried and it was really good. Very tasty. We enjoyed our lunch here and it's in a nice location.
Lovely chips, nice and well done, not anaemic like some places. Curry sauce was particularly good. Prices are as you'd expect for on the seafront, about £6 for chips with a sauce. Only downside was the person serving, who was quite rude about us queuing from the wrong side, despite having no signs up and no one else actually waiting to be served! Would go back for the food, service left a bit to be desired
Tea & coffee with a portion of chips to share. Just the one size of chips served in a cardboard box. Why not wrap them in a sheet of paper! Such a waste of money. Tasty but £3 so pretty expensive. They'd run out of fish & this was at around 1300. Not good. Saw 2 pods of dolphins though, so, pretty happy with the view.
The only good thing I can say about this place was the dark haired lady on the till ...... 1.30pm putting a hold on food with 6 ppl waiting sounds like the kitchen could do with someone who can run a kitchen.
Tasty fish and chips. Few bigger tables outside and more inside if you need a little bit of shadow. Cafe located next to the public toilets.
Never have i felt so ripped off!!!!!!!! £5 for a chip buttie. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Filey beach was lovely, take a picnic.. ????
I stopped here for a quick bite to eat after walking along the beach at Filey. The scampi was very nice and cooked to order. Staff were friendly and kept me up to date on how long the food would be. Cannot really ask for more. The indoor seating is nice as front doors open out and allow fresh air in whilst keeping you out of the sun for a bit
Went to get some lunch and when reading the menus on the boards above was abruptly informed ‘there’s no fish and chips today’. When asking what was available, a staff member answered ‘we’ve got like sausages and burgers’. This didn’t help given the full menu board was a mixture of everything. Decided to go elsewhere with a bit of coordination and clear menus that I could easily pick from
This was on a Wednesday lunch time with plenty of people about - why the chippy element of the store wasn’t open is a mystery.
Used this establishment loads over the years but past couple the service and availability has dwindled. Will park closer to Filey town centre and take my business elsewhere.
