Month back I’ve made massive mistake of going to Shelly’s again. After asking on the phone if they do balayage. I had job interviews ahead of me and couldn’t find other place that would fit me in quick enough. I wanted to look nice for interview and not doing it my self again. I had quite a root growth after previous balayage to blond. Hairdresser wasn’t able to do what I show and suggested purple to pinkish ombré. Not what I wanted ideally but picture she showed was nice so figured that’s ok. I didn’t really liked it straight away as could see she did highlights and put colour on it and it didn’t even grab on hair. She suggested curled which I knew is to mask how bad it is but I’m not argumentative person so gown with flow trying desperately to see it being actually nice. It wasn’t looking as bad while still inside. Payed £120 for this. As soon as left and seen it in day light out my hair up as was ashamed of the disgusting hair colour I had. Gone home thinking maybe once it will go lighter after couple of washes it will look better. It didn’t it was only worse. By end of week there was barely any colour left from half length up (mind I it supposed to be permanent), bottom gone from purple to horrid pink. Also my hair started to break very badly and gone real fuzzy. After a week I end up with massive colour correction and another cut. Clearly they don’t know how to do balayage and doesn’t seem to know how to do ombré either. I would say colour wise unless u want something mega easy like roots or highlights done AVOID at all cost. I’m so angry with my self I even payed for it.

Having not been to this hairdressers before the people made me feel very relaxed with a family atmosphere. I had a Balayage done followed by treatment, wash, cut and blow dry by Ola who really took care of my needs.

I went in for full head of Color at quite short notice, however was so so happy and impressed with the service I was given, after having a foot injury and was on crutches the team helped me, made me feel a lot happier when I left.. my hair looked and felt so lovely. Thank you to you all, keep up the great work and service, will definitely recommend. Xx
Booked in for a wash, trim and blowdry. The staff was lovely and friendly. The stylist ensured and confirmed that I was happy with the amount trimmed off. You can tell she takes pride in her work. I had no complaints. However, I think I was over charged because looking at the price list (picked one from their desk to see what other treatments they offer) and saw that their special was £32 for long hair. I didn'I have treatment done was charged £35.
I have been to this salon twice now, it’s listed as one of the best salons in Southampton - but both times I had a really unpleasant experience and left feeling worse about myself!
The first time the hairdresser barely said 1 word to me the entire time, which fine, but even professional questions such as asking if it’s okay to use certain products on my hair etc wern’t asked.
The first time she said to me “so young but so many gray hair” (I didn’t even know I had any - so left with a new insecurity)
Second time I visited (last night) the towel used for my hair smelt so badly of damp - it was clear it wasn’t fresh for my head! As in had been used on many people that day. Then the woman who cut my hair asked where my parting was, when I told her she said it was too low and then pointed to a scar on my forehead and said we need to hide this! I was mortified! Both times left with really horrible feelings about myself.
It was much shorter than I asked for and the cut is the worst, so wonky because she argued with me about where my parting was.
Honestly so unhappy about this. I won’t be back, but it’s a real shame, I gave it a second chance due to it being rated so high - but it was nothing like advertised, no warm greetings, refreshments, nice chit chat and then worst of all, the cut did not go well at all!
Plus the blow dry had no heat protection used on my head and she used her hand for 95% of the blow dry rather than a brush!
Perfect experience. Walked in and was out within an hour with a haircut I adored. Very fair prices and lovely staff. Will 100% be coming back!
