Quick Facts About The Coriander
The Coriander place has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the staff are consistently praised for being fast, efficient, and friendly. This creates a welcoming atmosphere for customers and enhances their overall dining experience. Additionally, the food at The Coriander place is highly regarded and described as tasty. Customers appreciate the reasonable pricing and have no issues in choosing this restaurant for their dining needs. The mixed grill and the prawn dishes receive particular recommendations. The restaurant also offers a Banquet offer during the week, which includes a starter, main course, side dish, and rice or naan, providing great value for money. Another strength mentioned is the availability of free parking, which is a convenient feature for customers.
Furthermore, The Coriander place is described as a small and cozy restaurant, creating a warm and intimate dining atmosphere. Many customers appreciate the excellent service they receive and note that the staff is attentive and professional. These positive attributes contribute to the overall positive impression of the restaurant and encourage customers to visit again.
However, there are also some weaknesses that are important to address. One recurring issue mentioned is the pricing and portion size of the Onion Bhajis. Customers feel that this particular item is overpriced and the portion size is small. Additionally, some customers have experienced instances where they were promised a free dish or a free bottle of Coke, but were charged for it instead. This inconsistency in providing the promised free items creates a negative impression among customers and may lead to dissatisfaction or a sense of deception.
Another weakness mentioned is the difficulty in finding the restaurant, especially for those unfamiliar with the area. This can be a deterrent for potential customers, as an easily accessible location is important for convenience and attracting new customers.
In one comment, a customer expresses disappointment with the quality of their takeaway order. They mention that the portion sizes have become smaller and the prices have increased since the pandemic. The chicken biryani they received was watery and inedible, and there was a mix-up with the delivery of their order, resulting in cold food. The customer also raises concerns about the texture and quality of the chicken tikka masala, stating that the second one they received was unsatisfactory. This negative feedback indicates a decline in the overall quality of the food and service provided compared to previous experiences.
Despite these weaknesses, the majority of comments express satisfaction and praise for The Coriander place. Customers consistently describe it as their favorite place, where everything is always excellent. The overall positive reviews highlight the strengths of the restaurant, including the delicious food, reasonable prices, great service, and cozy atmosphere. However, it is crucial for The Coriander place to address the mentioned weaknesses in order to maintain its positive reputation and customer satisfaction.

Lovely little restaurant where the staff were fast, efficient and friendly. Made us feel very welcome. We was a walk in. I had the prawn which was amazing. Can't wait to go back again.
This place has got where it counts the food. Tasty food priced well no issues in choosing this place. Would definitely visit again to try some other dishes. The place has decent free parking on the front and the staff are excellent.
Love this place. Fantastic food at reasonable prices. Great service. Recommend the mixed grill. In the week they do a Banquet offer of: Starter, main course, side plus rice or nann. Really great value. If you don’t know Basildon it’s a bit difficult to find.
Great food, excellent service, good price, small and cosy but noisy
The only bad thing I would say about The Coriander is the Onion Bhajis are over priced and small (£3.75 for 3) and they say you have a free dish and then charge you. This has happened on multiple occasions, so this is not a one off. The same with the free bottle of Coke.
Have used the coriander for quite a few years now but tonight's takeaway was the worst Indian I have ever had. Not sure if you have different chefs since pandemic but since then the portions have got smaller and the prices are dearer tonight's chicken biryani was so watery it was pretty inedible we ordered 2 chicken tikka masala's only 1 arrived and had to go back to collect the other so other food was cold by the time we all sat down to eat as for the chicken tikka masala the first one we already had was thick in texture of how you expect a tikka masala but the next one was like it was swimming in cheap tomato sauce and for the prices you are now charging I think the quality should be a lot better the veg curry used to have big chunks of potato in but now just peas and carrots and onion. So all in all a waste of money tonight.
Our favourite place! Everything is always excellent!
Brilliant. We tried to go to the Mintoo which was empty and they told us they were fully booked. My sister in-law had told me about the coriander early the same day and we called, resented a table and walked up. So glad that the Mintoo snubbed is. The coriander is up a there for Indian restaurants all across Essex. Top notch.
