Quick Facts About The Hungry Gannet

The Hungry Gannet place has several strengths that contribute to its reputation as a top breakfast joint in town. Firstly, it is consistently praised as having the best breakfast in the area, with the Scottish/English breakfast receiving particular acclaim. The standout element of the breakfast is the Lorne sausage, which is regarded as the best part of the meal. Additionally, the special coffee offered at The Hungry Gannet is highly praised, with customers describing it as really good.
Another strength of The Hungry Gannet is its extremely low prices. Customers appreciate the affordability of the food, making it an excellent value for money option. The fact that it is a small place with only a couple of seats contributes to its charm, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The unique interior design of the restaurant is also mentioned positively by customers, adding to the overall experience.
The positive feedback extends to the staff at The Hungry Gannet, who are described as helpful and friendly. Customers appreciate their attentiveness and enjoy the interactions they have with the staff. The fact that the restaurant opens early on a Sunday, at 9 am, is also seen as a strength, especially for guests staying at the nearby Premier Inn.
The establishment is praised not only for its breakfast options but also for its selection of hot and cold rolls, sandwiches, baguettes, ice cream, and slushies. Customers find the food selection appealing and appreciate the quality of the breakfast rolls. The homemade cakes and traybakes are particularly mentioned as a highlight, with customers considering The Hungry Gannet as the go-to place for these treats.
However, there are some weaknesses mentioned in the comments that should be taken into consideration. One of these is the fact that The Hungry Gannet only accepts cash payments. While there is a nearby cash machine, some customers perceive this as an inconvenience. Another minor gripe is the absence of a napkin in the bag with the rolls, which could be seen as a lack of attention to detail. These issues could be easily addressed by implementing card payment options and providing napkins upon request.
Furthermore, some customers express disappointment with the quality of the hot food during lunchtimes. Complaints include soggy chips, bland macaroni, and a change in the chicken from fresh pieces to tasteless patties. These criticisms suggest a decline in the lunchtime menu's quality and taste. It is essential for The Hungry Gannet to address these concerns and consider improving the lunch offerings to maintain its overall positive reputation.
In conclusion, The Hungry Gannet has numerous strengths that contribute to its success as a breakfast joint. These include the accolade of serving the best breakfast in town, particularly the renowned Lorne sausage, as well as the positive reviews of its special coffee. The low prices, unique interior, and friendly staff further enhance the overall experience. While there are some minor weaknesses, such as the cash-only policy and decline in lunchtime food quality, these can be easily addressed and should not overshadow the many strengths of The Hungry Gannet.

Best TL Reviews

Best breakfast in the town. Their Scottish/ English breakfast is the best to start with. Lorne sausage is the best part of breakfast. Also try their special coffee, it is really good. Prices are extremely low and tiny place with couple of seats. The time i visisted was very busy and almost 5-7 people always in queue for an hour. Good unique interior.
Fantastic breakfast joint. Open at 9 on a Sunday. (We we’re staying at the premier inn and this breakfast is far superior)
3 options of cooked breakfast - the smallest was plenty for us.
Staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. Would definitely go back.
Only pointer - this place is not vegetarian friendly…
First time here, clean, nice staff, looks like a good selection of hot and cold rolls/sandwiches/baguettes as well as ice cream and slushies. Bought breakfast, good quality b/rolls that are crisp and light quality b/pudding and sausage.
Only gripe would be lazy for me is cash only(there is a cash machine about 5 steps away) and maybe a wee napkin in the bag with the rolls for a messy eater like me, but I should have asked for that ???? would go again if I'm in the area
In terms of cakes/traybakes - this is the place to go. A fantastic selection, all home-made, and really good value for money. Breakfast rolls are always nice too.
However, the quality of hot food at lunch times has really gone downhill recently. The chips are soggy, macaroni is quite bland and the chicken has changed from big, fresh, crispy pieces of chicken to tasteless, rubbery breaded patties that they've ordered in.
The staff are always so friendly and attentive, but its a shame that the lunchtime food is just no longer enjoyable in my opinion.
What a gem and so few would find it! You really don't often find a cafe/takeaway with such a range of fresh, appetising food to meet all tastes. Excellent value for money, great quality food. The menu is vast from all corners of the globe. I really enjoyed the decor, the cosy quirky feel and we were lucky enough to get a table, only 3 tables so get there early. I'd love to have tried the coffee but already had my caffeine quota, and maybe a cake next time! Staff super helpful and I enjoyed feeling like I was supporting a family run business who really care about their products and service. Will be back. Many thanks.
It doesn't get better than this. Beautiful decor, extensive range of hot and cold food of the highest quality, cakes that are next level and service to match. You can tell that everything is homemade and fresh. The service is impeccable and Taher is an excellent captain of the ship. Best food in Hamilton without a doubt!
Fabulous find! It’s my husband’s 60th birthday today and I promised him a breakfast out to start the day. We found an absolute gem! Really great start to his birthday. We will be back this is now our favourite breakfast destination!
By far the best breakfast we had since arriving in Scotland.
Even with the busy rush hour of the morning the team at the Hungry Gannet were professional, kind and delivering on every breakfast take away or eat in! A lot of happy customers from what we could see. Absolutely delicious, thank you!
