One of the significant strengths of The Cream Tea Café is its scrumptious food. Multiple comments praise the food, referring to it as homemade and delicious. The sourdough granary, chocolate bread pudding, lemon and polenta cake, and rhubarb and raspberry crumble cake are all specifically mentioned as exceptional. This indicates that the café's strength lies in its ability to create tasty and unique dishes that customers enjoy.

Being close to a popular market increases the chances of attracting customers who are exploring the area or looking for a place to relax after shopping.
The Cream Tea Café's commitment to homemade and freshly baked goods is another strength highlighted by customers. The fact that all of their cakes are home-baked and made by a husband and wife team creates a personal and welcoming feel. This attention to detail adds to the overall experience and creates a traditional and authentic atmosphere for enjoying tea. It is worth noting that some comments also mention the generous cream portion in the cream tea, which can be seen as an advantage for customers who enjoy a creamy treat with their tea.

Popped in for lunch completely on the off-chance and had the most scrumptious food. No trouble to seat six of us and the service was charming and friendly. Everything homemade including divine sourdough granary! What a find! If you are ever in Barnstaple give it a try. It's round the corner from the Pannier Market so easy to find.
Oh my god! What a lovely little hidden gem ! Tea served in a proper china pot with china cups and saucers, and the food ❤️
Possibly the best sandwich on the freshest hand made hand cut bread. The chocolate bread pudding is a thing of delicious beauty. Fabulous little tea shop. We will be back .
Terrific stop for tea and cake. We had the most delicious lemon and polenta cake with fruit compote and rhubarb and raspberry crumble cake with clotted cream -both incredibly delicious. A husband and wife team -all cakes home baked and a really welcoming feel.
Excellent quality food and best coffee in Barnstaple. Always go here when in the area. Very friendly and helpful staff despite being very busy. Service was quick and friendly
Wow what a gem! Hidden away down a ickle alley, but really worth finding. The cakes were amazing, out of this world, so nice that we all took some for later aswell ( hubby even ate two there!) Really friendly and helpful and had a big selection, even for gluten free. Oooo and did I mention the fabtastic banana milkshakes...... yummmmmmmmmmmm. Will definitely be returning.
Loved this little tea shop, owner was friendly & according to my husband they served the best bread pudding he'd had in years.
We will definitely be going again the next time we are in the area.
I learned about "cream tea" during my visit to England, and this is the first ever place I've tried it. I'm glad to be wirting the review now, after I've come home, and having tried many, many other places for cream tea. Unfortunatly, the scones are a sorry representation by which to stake the name of their establishment upon. While they weren't the worst scones I've had, there are just a lot better places to get cream tea.
Cute little cafe, delicious cream tea!
Friendly staff and lovely decor!
Very generous cream portion too!
