The Holden Arms place appears to have several strengths based on the comments provided. One of the main strengths highlighted by multiple reviewers is the quality of the food. Customers consistently mention that the food is wonderful, outstanding, and incredible. The Sunday roast with lamb is praised for its tenderness, while the cheese and onion pie is described as very nice. The chips are also mentioned multiple times as being the best ever and the fish and chips are said to be like a whale in crispy batter. The burgers are described as next level and the beef balti is deemed the best in 40 years. These positive comments about the food demonstrate that The Holden Arms excels in providing tasty and satisfying dishes.
Another strength mentioned by reviewers is the service provided by the staff. The ambiance and atmosphere of The Holden Arms are also mentioned positively. The pub is described as a little gem with a traditional feel. There are a few weaknesses that can be inferred from the comments, although these are minor and not extensively mentioned. Firstly, one reviewer mentions that it can be busy, indicating that there may be times when it is challenging to secure a table without prior booking. However, this is quickly followed by another reviewer mentioning that they were able to be accommodated despite not booking in advance. Therefore, the availability of space may vary depending on the day and time of visit.
Another potential weakness is the slightly slower service experienced by a party of 8. However, this is quickly offset by the positive comments about the freshly cooked food, generous portions, and the staff's brilliance. It is evident that the slight delay did not significantly impact the overall positive dining experience.
Overall, the strengths of The Holden Arms place lie in its exceptional food, excellent service, pleasant ambiance, and dog-friendly policy. The minor weaknesses identified do not overshadow these strengths and are likely isolated incidents. Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments, The Holden Arms appears to be an outstanding place to visit for a delicious meal in a welcoming environment.

This pub is just a little gem in haslingden, the food was incredible! The staff are lovely & there was a ukele band playing when we came which was lovely! Brilliant food, very friendly staff and amazing food. Very highly recommended
I will definitely be back
Lovely clean pub with a traditional feel. Nice views over the valley. Not too busy when we ordered food (4pm ish). We were seated immediately by the bar staff who took our drinks order and served it in minutes. Good start. I ordered gammon with egg, pineapple, chips and peas. Hubby ordered fish, chips and mushy peas. The service was quick and what a treat we got. My gammon was huge, the pineapple was fresh not tinned and the chips were home made, brown and crispy. Hubby's fish was like a whale in crispy batter. Not what we expected for average chain pub prices. Very pleasant staff made our visit outstanding. Highly recommended.
Update 20-11-22. We were a party of 8 this time. The service was a bit slower but it was worth waiting for. Everything was fresh and beautifully cooked. The portions were generous. Once again the staff were brilliant. Will definitely make it a regular part of our family visits.
Popped in for a light lunch with a friend. Decided on the soup and crusty bread option. It was super delicious. Staff very friendly and courteous.
Popped in on the off chance, turned out to be a good idea, everything really good, food service and beer will call in again.
