Quick Facts About The Jolly Farmer

The Jolly Farmer seems to have a number of strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. One of these strengths is its family-run atmosphere. This creates a welcoming and friendly environment that is appreciated by customers. Additionally, the presence of a warm woodburning stove adds to the coziness and comfort of the pub, making it an inviting place to spend time.
The presence of a TV for the World Cup action is another positive feature of The Jolly Farmer. However, the comment does note that the volume was turned down enough, indicating that the pub respects the different preferences of its customers and allows for a more relaxed atmosphere.
The selection of beers is also mentioned as being nice, which can add to the overall enjoyment and experience of patrons. It can be assumed that The Jolly Farmer offers a variety of beers to suit different tastes and preferences.
In terms of food, the comment notes that the Eastern cuisine is particularly good. This suggests that The Jolly Farmer offers a unique and diverse menu that includes both traditional pub grub and more exotic options. This can attract a wider range of customers and cater to different tastes.
Furthermore, the presence of a local dart club adds to the atmosphere of the pub, creating a sense of community and camaraderie. It seems that the pub is embraced by the small village and serves as a gathering place for locals.
The service at The Jolly Farmer is also highly regarded by customers. The waitress is described as being "very good at her job and incredibly helpful." This speaks to the level of professionalism and attentiveness shown by the staff. Friendly staff who are willing to go the extra mile can greatly enhance the overall experience for customers.
The pub also has a good-sized garden, which is appreciated by customers. This allows for outdoor seating and enjoyment during warmer months. The presence of a large car park is another advantage, as it provides convenience and ease of access for visitors.
However, the pub is not without its weaknesses. One comment mentions that some items were off the menu during their visit, which can be seen as a negative aspect as it limits the options available to customers. Additionally, slow service is mentioned in another comment, indicating that there may be issues with efficiency or staffing that need to be addressed.
Another comment notes that the gents toilet was "a bit tired and smelly," which may indicate a lack of cleanliness or maintenance in the facilities. This can create a negative impression of the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards of the pub.
Furthermore, the comment about being asked for a tip by the person presenting the bill suggests that there may be some issues with staff behavior or professionalism. This can make customers uncomfortable and potentially impact their overall experience and perception of the pub.
In terms of food, while some comments praise the taste and value for money, others mention that the food was only average and lacked flavor. This indicates that there may be inconsistencies in the quality and taste of the dishes offered at The Jolly Farmer.
In conclusion, The Jolly Farmer has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation, including its family-run atmosphere, the presence of a woodburning stove, a variety of beers, and good service. However, there are also weaknesses that need to be addressed, such as limited menu options, slow service, cleanliness issues, and potential staff behavior concerns. By addressing these weaknesses and building on their strengths, The Jolly Farmer can continue to improve and provide a positive experience for its customers.

Best TL Reviews

Great family run atmosphere. Lovely warm woodburning stove. TV for world cup action, but the with volume turned down enough (quite right!). Nice beers. The food is particularly good if you like Eastern quinine! But traditional pub grub also nice.
The atmosphere was fantastic because of the local dart club and everyone in the small village! The food was outstanding, we had Thai curries and English food and they were both out of this world! The waitress was very good at her job and incredibly helpful! Overall, it was a fantastic night and we left with our stomachs full knowing we will be coming back soon…
Proper old country pub with a good sized garden. We had a beef & chicken roast which were really good. Will definitely be back & only a 30min walk from our house.......bonus! ????????
Friendly staff, very helpful. What the dishes lack in presentation they more than make up for in taste and value for money. Very comfortable cosy place to eat typical village pub with great atmosphere full of locals.Even the local Bobby popped in and he was very friendly too. Large car park.
Popped in for a light lunch ... I had bubble & squeak topped with streaky bacon, cheese sauce and a poached egg. "Divine". I'm told that the burger & chips were very good too.
Will be back soon.
Decent place this. Not too large but fairly standard for a local pub. The decor and seating was adequate, felt quite cozy actually. The server did their job well.
The food was okay. Nothing to run home about but the price was fair. I got a Burger with chips. I enjoyed the thickness of the burger but in all honesty, there just wasn't enough flavour in terms of the sauce. I was however, plesently surprised by the delicious thick cut chips. That certainly did the meal justice. Overall, not a bad place to meet up with some mates.
Our experience wasn't great. A lot of items were off the menu at 1.15pm. Service was really slow.
Took about 55 minutes for scampi and chips and a Ciabatta to arrive. Quality was fine for standard pub fare. The gents toilet was a bit tired and smelly. The bar lady was friendly and enthusiastic.
The first time I have ever been asked for a tip by the person presenting the bill, I often tip if the service and the food is good but unfortunately tonight the service was slow, and the desert did not match what was described on the menu I felt quite embarrassed being asked for a tip after paying the full bill which I rounded up over the total cost even though I mentioned the desert was poor. ????
