Quick Facts About Tamarind Spice
Tamarind Spice Place has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the main strengths mentioned is the great atmosphere and popularity of the restaurant. The fact that it is always busy suggests that it is well-liked by the local community and attracts a steady stream of customers. This is a positive sign as it indicates that the restaurant is doing well in the area.
Another strength is the selection of curries and sundries offered by Tamarind Spice Place. Commenters specifically mentioned the brilliance of the poppadoms and pickle tray, indicating that the restaurant provides a satisfying variety of options for customers. Additionally, the restaurant allows customers to bring their own wine and even offers glasses for corkage. This gives customers the flexibility to enjoy their own drinks while dining. Furthermore, they also sell their own beer, including Cobra on draft and bottles of Kingfisher and other lagers.
Several customers also commented positively on the taste of the food. They found it to be very tasty and indicated that they would definitely return. This suggests that Tamarind Spice Place excels in creating delicious dishes that leave a positive impression on their customers.
However, there are also several weaknesses that were highlighted by customers. One major weakness is the inconsistency in quality between dining in and takeaway experiences. One customer mentioned that their previous dining experiences were good, but their recent takeaway was awful. This inconsistency raises concerns about the consistency and reliability of the restaurant's food and service.
Another weakness mentioned is the rushed service and lack of attention to detail. Several customers commented on feeling rushed and not being provided with enough time to comfortably place their orders or make decisions. Additionally, one customer mentioned that their tablecloth was taken away mid-conversation, which can be disruptive to the dining experience. Another customer mentioned that they were not offered a dessert menu and had to specifically ask for it. These instances reflect a lack of attentiveness and focus on the overall dining experience.
Some customers also expressed dissatisfaction with the customer service. One customer mentioned that they were seated near the kitchen door and had to wait a significant amount of time for their food. They also felt that the management and staff did not know how to properly run a restaurant and that the customer service was poor. Another customer mentioned feeling disappointed with the lack of garlic in their garlic nan and the flatness of the Cobra beer. These instances suggest a lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction.
While some customers praised the value for money and overall enjoyable experiences at the restaurant, others raised concerns about the flavor of the food and the quality of the beer. These comments indicate that there may be inconsistency in the taste and quality of the dishes and drinks.
In conclusion, Tamarind Spice Place has strengths in its atmosphere, selection of curries and sundries, and the taste of the food. However, it also has weaknesses in consistency, rushed service, lack of attention to detail, and customer service. These weaknesses should be addressed in order to improve the overall dining experience and attract more satisfied customers.

Great atmosphere really busy, you could see that they do well in the area. Great selection of curries and sundries - the poppadoms and pickle tray was brilliant. Bring your own wine and the offer glasses as per corkage, they allow you to bring your own beer however they also sell their own with Cobra on draft and bottles of kingfisher and other sorts of lagers.
First time I've been there food was very tasty. I will definitely be going back.
Previous good experiences dining in however takeaway last night awful. Time to look elsewhere. Only Positive was punctuality in delivery.
Had a table early (6.30) on a Saturday. We arrived and didn't even have time to take my coat off, let alone sit down before we were asked if we wanted poppadoms and drinks. I asked for a wine, to be told they didn't serve it. But they do serve beer and spirits.... only when the waiter came back that I queried why other tables had wine to be told I could get a bottle from the local shop to bring in.
We had a tikka masala, which was too sweet for my liking!
Tablecloth was taken away mid conversation and we had to hold our drinks up whilst they did this.
We weren't offered a dessert menu, and had to ask. My daughter was under pressure to order as the waiter was standing over her whilst she was looking at the menu.
Asked for the bill, which included my drink that I ordered with the dessert that never arrived. Explained this to the waiter and got an eye roll.
Service far too rushed, quality of food not great for the price charged, and I don't understand why they don't serve wine when they have a display stand of several bottles at the bar.
Booked a table for 2 last night July 24th
We were seated just beside the kitchen door after 20 minutes we got asked if we wanted poppadoms & chutney and ordered drinks at the same time .
About 30 minutes later our order was taken ,we waited 1 hour & 20 minutes for our food which I had to ask the manager how long is our order going to take .
The restaurant was busy but we were just left there watching the kitchen door swing back & forth and listening to the waiters shouting and blaming each other for delays .
The place was totally out of control ,it's a shame as the taste of the food was very good .
The management and staff don't have a clue how to run a restaurant between them and the customer service is poor .
We won't be using this restaurant again .
Welcome was good, the room is nice, new and it's clean but, the food didn't feel very tasty and fresh. Also, the Cobra beer felt a bit flat and somehow lacking the usual flavour. Additionally, I have also ordered a garlic nan but, I couldn't see or feel any garlic at all and felt disappointed.
Overall, between the flavour of the food (or lack of it) and the flat beer, I left with a feeling that the restaurant was perhaps trying to "cut corners" in order to improve margings. if that's the case, then I would rather prefer to pay a few additional pounds but at least, to enjoy all Indian flavours the way they should be..!
Value for money was fair but then again, I have felt that something was not the way it was supposed to be and I would rather avoid going back again.
We went on Saturday night and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The food was excellent and at reasonable prices. Will definitely go there again.
Delicious food, quickly delivered and full of flavour. I can’t speak to the points others have made about lack of heat (spice wise) as we ordered medium dishes but they were all lovely and well prepared, meat very tender and sauce and sides or full of flavour and spice. This will become a favourite takeaway I think!!
