Quick Facts About The Last Heretic
The Last Heretic micropub has several strengths that make it a popular choice for visitors. Firstly, many customers appreciate the welcoming and friendly atmosphere of the pub. Multiple comments mention that the owner and clients were open and friendly, making it a comfortable place to spend time alone or with others. The staff is described as super friendly and welcoming, creating a positive and enjoyable experience for customers.
Another strength of The Last Heretic is its beer and cider selection. The comments mention that the beers poured straight from the cask are fresh and well-kept. The pub offers a good range of beers, both on tap and in bottles, including draught and craft options. Customers also mentioned that the beer and cider were of high quality and enjoyable to drink. This selection of quality beverages contributes to the positive reputation of the pub.
The Last Heretic also benefits from its location. It is conveniently situated near the train station, making it easily accessible for visitors. This location is particularly appreciated by football fans who often visit Burton. Its proximity to the station makes it a convenient spot to stop for a drink before or after a game. Additionally, the pub offers a beer garden, which is described as great by one commenter. This outdoor seating area provides a pleasant space for customers to enjoy their drinks, especially during warmer months.
Furthermore, the prices at The Last Heretic are mentioned as competitive and reasonably priced. Commenters appreciate that the pub offers good value for money, with pints of ale priced around £3.50. This affordability makes the pub an attractive option for customers seeking a budget-friendly place to enjoy some drinks.
Despite its strengths, The Last Heretic also has some weaknesses that may affect the overall experience. One commenter mentioned that card payments have a minimum spend of £5, which could be inconvenient for those who prefer to pay with cards or do not have enough cash on hand. While this may not be a significant issue for most customers, it is worth noting as a potential drawback.
Additionally, the outdoor seating area at the pub is mentioned as less comfortable by one commenter. This could be a minor inconvenience for those who prefer to sit outside, especially for longer periods. However, as it is a micropub, limited space may be a constraint that compromises the seating options.
In conclusion, The Last Heretic micropub in Burton has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. These include a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of beers and ciders, convenient location near the train station, and affordable prices. While there are minor weaknesses such as minimum spend requirements for card payments and limited seating comfort in the outdoor area, the overall strengths of the pub make it a highly recommended choice for visitors.

A very Nice place to spend good time, even alone. The owner and clients were very open to me and the beer and cider are really good. If i come back to burton one day i definitivly come back to this pub! Thanks a lot. Oh and also, don't leave the place without trying the pikkle eggs!
Always been welcome in this micropub.
Beers poured straight from the cask, friendly as anything bar chap, super friendly conversational atmosphere, always a good selection to choose from.
Just as long as you have cash on you, £5 minimum on card payments.
I love this little micropub just outside the town towards the station. Always a good choice of well served draught and craft beers available, in a cost and friendly atmosphere, where conversation or quiet contemplation can be enjoyed.
Great micropub. I always call in on my infrequent visits to football at Burton. Unfortunately, on my Good Friday visit I only had time to quickly drink a pint of Charrington IPA.
Always good beer and friendly reception.
Fantastic micro close to the train station. Great beer garden, a relief after being packed in like sardines at the beer festival nearby.
Good choice of call and kegged beers.
Highly recommended
The Last Heretic is a fairly new micropub a little outside of Burton centre, less than 10 minutes from the train station. It's a very small place, but offers a larger outside seating area in the back; the latter (as you can see on my pictures) isn't the most comfortable though. There's a tiny bar with a big guy behind it who will help you with the selection. All real ales are up on a chalk board, with ABV and price per pint. The prices for ale here are very competitive, around UKP 3.50 a pint. The beers are fresh and well-kept (in a little chamber behind the bar, directly from the cask). The good range of beers makes this a place to recommend.
Super little pub, good atmosphere and nice selection of beers, pies are excellent, good size but. You have to quick as they go like, erm, good pies!
A lovely little micropub situated nicely by the train station. Clean and tidy with an excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and really good beer. The pork pies are pretty special too.
