Quick Facts About The Liquorice Bush
The Liquorice Bush pub has both strengths and weaknesses, as indicated by the comments provided. One of its strengths is the atmosphere, which is described as good, friendly, and outstanding. It is mentioned that the bar has a great atmosphere and that the refurbishment of the bar has made a dramatic improvement to it. This positive atmosphere is further enhanced by the friendly and polite bar staff, who provide a good welcome to all visitors. The atmosphere of a pub can greatly contribute to its appeal and overall customer experience.
Another strength of The Liquorice Bush is the availability of a range of drinks. It is mentioned that the pub has an excellent range of drinks, which is likely to cater to different preferences and appeal to a wider customer base. The availability of a variety of drinks can attract more customers and provide them with options to choose from, ensuring that they can find something they enjoy.
The pub is also praised for its pink gins, which are described as the best on that side of Pontefract. This suggests that The Liquorice Bush has a specialty or unique offering when it comes to drinks, which can be a strength in attracting customers who are looking for something specific or different.
One of the weaknesses highlighted in the comments is the music being too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. This can be seen as a potential drawback for customers who prefer a quieter and more relaxed environment, where they can comfortably engage in conversations with their companions.
Another weakness mentioned is the quality of the beer. The comments state that the Coors lager is warm and flat, and the Guinness is described as shocking. It is mentioned that this issue has persisted even after the new owners took over, indicating a consistent problem with the beer quality. This can be a significant weakness for a pub, as the quality of drinks is a crucial aspect of the customer experience and can greatly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Additionally, there is a negative review regarding the food at The Liquorice Bush. The customer describes their experience with the all-day breakfast as disappointing, mentioning cheap sausages, no butter for toast, and an unappetizing presentation. This negative experience with the food can be a deterrent for potential customers, as the quality and taste of food can be an important factor in deciding whether or not to visit a pub for a meal.
Another weakness highlighted is the concerning lack of proper safety measures in place to curb the spread of Covid-19. The customer expresses disappointment with the table service, as the staff were not wearing face masks and did not maintain proper distance from customers. This raises concerns about the safety of visiting the pub during the pandemic and can deter customers who prioritize strict adherence to safety guidelines.
In conclusion, The Liquorice Bush has strengths such as a good atmosphere, friendly staff, an excellent range of drinks, and competitive pricing. However, it also has weaknesses including loud music, poor beer quality, disappointing food, and insufficient safety measures during the Covid-19 pandemic. These strengths and weaknesses should be considered by potential customers when deciding whether or not to visit the pub. It is important for the pub to address the weaknesses and areas of improvement to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty in the long run.

We like this pub, it would be lovely if the music wasn't so loud then we could have a conversation.
Good atmosphere, great music and the best pink gins this side of pontefract xx
Beautiful old town pub. Spotlessly clean but OMG the beer is simply awful. Warm & flat Coors lager again & the Guinness was shocking. Third time in following new owners & keep hoping for the beer to improve but this currently is not the case. Needs serious attention to the cellar.
Terrible.
Used to be a good place for lunch but now very disappointing.
Had all day breakfast. £6.50
Cheap sausage, no butter for toast and all looked a bit unappetising.
No more visits from us.
The refurbishment of the bar has made a dramatic improvement to the atmosphere. The bar staff are very polite and courteous and gives a good welcome to all visitors. I went for a sunday lunch and it was delicious and home made, and an affordable price.
First time I have visited this lovely little pub. Staff very friendly and the drinks are very well priced. I will be back!
We went in Saturday looking for a relaxing drink. Unfortunately, left very unimpressed with the ^safety measures' they have in place to kurb the spread of Covid. So, you are not allowed up to the bar and the staff will bring your drinks etc. The table service would have been a good idea if the 2 staff on were wearing face masks. They weren't and going table to table. How did they know if someone asymptomatic was in. They then went to all other tables stood less than 6 metres away. We didn't know about it until we ordered a drink. Were told to sit at a table and not go to the bar. When we decided to leave after the one drink we had to wait about 10 minutes to pay. Will not be going back as the spread of any virus will be in there.
I have visited the Liquorice Bush, Pontefract, on a number of occasions.
