Quick Facts About Peking Palace
Peking Palace has received a mix of positive and negative comments, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. In terms of strengths, several commenters mentioned the staff being accommodating and friendly. One individual specifically mentioned a waiter named Tony, who had a backstory that they enjoyed hearing. This suggests that the restaurant has a welcoming and personable staff, which can enhance the overall dining experience for customers.
The affordability of the food is another strength mentioned by a commenter. They stated that the prices are reasonable and that customers get their money's worth. This can be a major selling point for the restaurant, especially in a competitive market where consumers are often looking for value for their money.
Another strength mentioned is the quality of the food. Despite some negative comments, several individuals commented positively on the taste of the food. One person specifically mentioned that the food was lovely. This suggests that Peking Palace is capable of providing enjoyable meals to its customers.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses that have been identified. One recurring concern is the lack of organization. One customer mentioned that their takeaway order seemed unorganized, despite the quick service. Another commenter mentioned that the restaurant was not as bustling and busy as it used to be, which may suggest a decrease in efficiency or effectiveness in managing the restaurant.
Several comments also brought up issues with the menu. One individual mentioned that there was too much choice on offer, which may lead to confusion for customers. Another mentioned that there was a lack of description for certain dishes, making it difficult for customers to know what they were ordering. This lack of clarity and organization in the menu can lead to dissatisfaction and disappointment for customers.
A significant weakness mentioned was the decline in quality compared to previous experiences. One commenter mentioned that they had previously been a regular but found their recent takeaway meal to be the worst they have ever eaten. They described the food as bland and lacking in flavor. Another commenter also mentioned that the food did not match its price tag, suggesting a decline in the overall value provided by the restaurant.
Service issues were also raised by multiple commenters. One person mentioned their disappointment with the slow service and poor organization during a Christmas dinner event. They described a long wait for food, cold vegetables, and a lack of overall satisfaction. Another commenter mentioned experiencing stress and anxiety due to the poor and slow service they received.
In summary, Peking Palace has shown strengths in its accommodating staff, affordable prices, and positive feedback on the taste of the food. However, weaknesses were identified in terms of organization, menu clarity, decline in food quality, and service issues. It is important for the restaurant to address these weaknesses in order to improve the overall customer experience and regain any lost reputation.

Staff couldn’t be more accommodating and waiter Tony was such a lovely guy with a backstory that I was happy to hear.
Food was lovely you get your monies worth and the prices are really reasonable I recall the place in the 90s and recall the place bustling at the seams not like that these days too much choice on offer but get your arses back and support a local business ;)
Meal was excellent but need to get draft beer back!
First take away since being taken over.
Seemed unorganized, although food did not take long. Tried something different, it would have helped having description on the menu. Food was good, but not what we expected.
I've not used this place for at least 20 year, but used to be a regular when I last lived in the area, so when I saw a Facebook post on a local community page that they had re-opened, I thought I'd give it a go. It was, without a doubt, the worst chinese takeway meal I've ever eaten. The word "bland" just doesn't cover it adequately. One of our mains was Kung Po pork - it came in a really watery sauce with no spice or kick to it and the meat was fatty. Our other main, a king prawn meal was equally bland, although the prawns were adequate in texture. The sweetcorn and crab soup, didn't actually have crab in it, so one for trading standards to ponder. Having just noticed the other recent poor reviews when I camer to write this, I regret not checking them out sooner. I'll be giving this place a wide berth from now on as it's clearly declined.
Massively over priced and food definitely did not match its price tag and 4 quid for a small tin of Tennants is scandalous. Went here a few years ago and food was good it has changed alot. You don't mind an expensive bar if the food is amazing but just doesn't balance
Place isn't the most modern but one of those restaurants that I would say don't let the look put you off. Food was tremendous. Will defo be back again
Had Xmas dinner yesterday, we arrived 1600, didn't get starter until 1715, didn't get main until 1815, vegetables including potatoes cold, 14 in the party, got fed up complaining at the time, table wasn't set when we got there, it was very cramped for a party of 14, Xmas totally spoiled, had family up from England and from France.
Will never set foot in the place again.
To make things even worse, there was also a huge hole in the car park which has been barriered off, the barriers had been knocked over and in the dark you can't see the hole, someone drove there car into the hole and couldn't get it out!!! No satisfaction at all at the end after speaking to the manager, he only dropped the service charge but there was no service. What a joke.
Being coming here for a few years now for business lunches , always quite but food delicious and staff very nice , so my mum thought it would be nice to book a family get together for Christmas Day as my brother and nephew who live in France where coming home , so she booked for 14 of us , we arrived at 3.45 for our 4 o’clock sitting we where left waiting for 45 minutes to be seated , my mum is 79 and my dad is 90 , finally seated , after 20 mins we asked could we have a drink , finally the starter arrived at 5.30 , then waited another hour for the main courses to come out , first 9 meals came out , the Brussel sprouts where frozen inside, and the turkey was covered with the most horrendous sauce , another 10 mins before the steak came out , and my mum sat another 15 mins waiting for hers , we had already finished ours , asked 4 times where was her dinner , only to be rudely told I’m only a waiter , yeah now for dessert it arrived at 6.45 again only half came out , staff totally stressed , eventually coming out with the rest of the desserts and placing them at the bottom of the table , for us to give out ourselves , once they where finished after 20mins , we thought let’s get the bill never mind the tea and coffees, the meal minus drinks should had been £772 pounds , as they added a 10% service charge , ???????? we did complain and the manager removed the service charge , never again totally ruined our day , worse dinning experience EVER, another table actually cheered and wished everyone a happy new year when they finally got their meal .
Absolute nightmare of a day don’t even spend your hard earned money at this place service is poor and slow staff are rude end of the day I was stressed and I suffer with anxiety and had a anxiety attack and had to go to the toilet to calm down because of the stress this place caused me as it was waiting nearly 1 and half hour for each course to be put out I was in the place for 4 hours what a waste of my money and time
