Quick Facts About The Tavern
The Tavern place appears to have several strengths that make it a popular choice for many customers. One of the first strengths mentioned is the decor of the pub. Customers love the overall ambiance and atmosphere created by the interior design, indicating that the establishment has put effort into creating an appealing and pleasant environment for its patrons.
The size of the pub is also mentioned as a strength, with customers noting that it is quite spacious and has two bars. There is even mention of a potential third bar upstairs, which further adds to the variety and choices available to customers. The size of the main bar is particularly praised as it makes it easy for customers to get served, suggesting that the establishment is efficient in serving its customers in a timely manner.
Additionally, the pub is commended for being a great place to grab a drink with friends. Customers appreciate the friendly and sociable atmosphere, which makes it an enjoyable place to meet up and have a laugh. The mention of comfy sofas adds to the overall comfort and relaxation that customers can expect when visiting The Tavern.
The weekends are highlighted as a good time to visit The Tavern, with the mention of a small entry fee that is understandable. This suggests that the establishment may offer some form of entertainment or additional perks during the weekends, making it worth the slight extra cost.
However, despite these strengths, several weaknesses are mentioned in the comments. One major complaint is about the sticky carpet in the pub, which can create an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience for customers. Additionally, there are mentions of flat mixers, indicating that the quality of the drinks may not always be consistent.
Another significant weakness that is mentioned is the £5 entry fee. While some customers understand and accept this fee, others find it excessive and off-putting. The fact that The Tavern only accepts cash as payment is also noted as a weakness since many customers nowadays prefer the convenience of using card or digital payment methods.
A negative comment suggests that The Tavern may cater to a younger crowd, with the mention of a hot, sweaty atmosphere filled with scantily clad youngsters. This can be seen as a weakness for older customers who prefer a more relaxed and mature environment, indicating that The Tavern may not cater to all age groups equally.
One particular comment highlights the lack of an ice machine in The Tavern, mentioning that it is the only place in the area that charges an entry fee but does not have this basic amenity. This is perceived as a major flaw by this customer, and it may be a significant disadvantage for others as well.
Despite these weaknesses, positive comments about The Tavern do exist. One customer mentions the professionalism of the chef and the decent quality of the food, specifically praising the presentation of a chicken wrap. The friendly and helpful staff are also commended, suggesting that customer service is a strength of the pub.
Overall, The Tavern has a range of strengths that make it appealing to many customers, including its decor, size, friendly atmosphere, and the availability of professional food and drink service. However, there are also several weaknesses that may deter certain customers, such as the sticky carpet, flat mixers, entry fee, cash-only payment, potential age demographic bias, and the absence of an ice machine.

Sticky carpet and flat mixers! And £5 to get in.... Cash only mind ????
Since moving to the area, I've always walked past The Tavern but have never gone in. Last night decided to go with some mates and watch them play pool. The pub ended up being really nice, the people working inside were friendly, and the prices aren't too bad. I'd definitely recommend stopping here on a night out x
Hot, sweaty and full of scantily clad youngsters. If that's your thing it's probably brilliant. I'm too old for staying out past 1AM.
Don’t go— the only place in north Devon that charges cover and they DONT EVEN OWN AN ICE MACHINE! I asked why and they said because it cost £2k…
