One of the greatest strengths of Theatre Royal Margate is its atmosphere. Many visitors have praised the energy and vibrancy of the theatre, creating a lively and engaging experience. The comments mention laughter, tears, and a sense of enjoyment during performances, indicating that the theatre successfully creates a captivating environment for its audience. This strength reflects positively on the quality of the shows and the ability of the performers to engage and entertain.
The theatre's program diversity is another notable strength. Visitors have mentioned a variety of shows, including pantomimes, amateur performances, and paranormal investigations. This range of events appeals to different interests and ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy. The inclusion of paranormal investigations also adds an interesting and unique element to the theatre's offerings, attracting those interested in the supernatural.
The intimate seating arrangement is another strength of the Theatre Royal Margate. Visitors have mentioned that the seats feel close to the action, allowing for a more immersive experience. This closeness to the stage enhances the connection between the audience and performers, providing a more engaging and personal theater experience. However, some comments have mentioned that certain seats have limited visibility, particularly those on the sides. This could be considered a minor weakness that the theatre could address by finding ways to improve sightlines.
Another positive aspect highlighted in the comments is the friendliness of the staff. Visitors have mentioned that the employees were welcoming and accommodating, providing a positive experience. This strength reflects well on the theater's customer service and contributes to a more pleasant overall visit for patrons.
The architectural charm of the Theatre Royal Margate is also evident from the comments. Visitors have described it as a lovely little old theatre and a beautiful venue. This characteristic adds to the uniqueness and character of the theater, creating a more aesthetically appealing experience. However, some comments have noted that the theater needs some love and attention, indicating that the building may require some maintenance and improvements to ensure its longevity.
Among the weaknesses mentioned, the limited space in the bar and foyer is one. Visitors have remarked that these areas are small and suggest arranging to meet friends elsewhere. This constraint may cause inconvenience and overcrowding during busy periods. Addressing this weakness by expanding the bar and foyer could enhance the overall experience for visitors.
Lastly, the prices of the drinks have been mentioned as overpriced by some visitors. Although this is a common issue in theaters, it is still a notable weakness that may deter some patrons from purchasing refreshments. Offering more affordable options or introducing special offers could be a solution to address this concern.
In conclusion, Theatre Royal Margate possesses several strengths that contribute to a positive theater experience including a lively and engaging atmosphere, diverse programming, intimate seating, and friendly staff. However, there are also some weaknesses that should be addressed, such as limited space in the bar and foyer, and high drink prices. Overall, the positive aspects outweigh the weaknesses, making Theatre Royal Margate an enjoyable and charming theater venue.

Lovely theatre my friend booked a show to see La Voix and what can I say what a blindin night. The theatre was packed and bursting with energy, laughter and tears. I drank before I got there as I heard that you cannot get to the bar and £5 for 1 can of Red Stripe which I find I can get 4 for £5 in my local shop but anyway if you get a chance to see a show go , because this theatre is right on your doorstep..well it is for me and I'm booked to see another show in March ✌️.
Lovely theatre and atmosphere. We joined Spectral Hunters for a paranormal investigation, all the team were so welcoming and we had use for all their equipment. Would definitely like to explore this location again. Thanks to all the team and Darren the Manager.
???? Bring your own chair - so not great for non-locals
???? Staff were very friendly
???? Good actors, entertaining overall, impressive stage and costumes
An enjoyable evening overall! Especially nice when sun was setting!
Went to see a panto with a friend and her kids. The performance was pretty fun. I was laughing and cheering along and the kids went bananas which I guess is what counts. So very many puns.
As for the venue itself, it's small but it works. Seats feel close to the action. Try to avoid the side seats - visibility is extremely limited. Otherwise, does what you'd expect. Very decent seaside town theatre.
The theatre needs some love and attention and we need to hang onto this building.
Great show La Voix, great entertainment, loved it
Lovely little old theatre. A good diverse programme of events. Comfy seats. Beware booking the restricted views behind pillars. The bar and foyer are very small so arrange to meet friends elsewhere. Heating was cranked up last time I went so wear layers you can take off.
Fabulous Panto. The cast were excellent, funny and very engaging. The ensemble were young but put in a professional performance. The theatre is small but very cosy, big enough for the audience to really generate an atmosphere, but small enough to feel close to the stage even at the back. Loved it we'll be back next year!
Such a beautiful theatre. Such a shame it is to close and an uncertain future. We watched an amateur version of a Mathilda. It was brilliant. Very talented artists.
The only downside was the price of the drinks. I know theatres are usually expensive but one small bottle of prosecco was very very overpriced.
