Quick Facts About Turnpike Inn
Based on the comments, the Turnpike Inn has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. Firstly, there is a warm and genuine welcome from the owners and staff, indicating a strong customer service ethic. This creates a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience. Additionally, the food is consistently praised, with a wide choice of options and great flavors. The Sunday carvery in particular receives high praise, being described as the best ever and cooked to perfection.
The decor of the pub is also appreciated, with mention of a log fire and beautiful interior design. This adds to the overall ambiance and creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere, especially during the colder months. The presence of a clean garden at the rear is also seen as a positive feature for enjoying the outdoors when the weather is nice.
The pub is also commended for its reasonable prices, making it accessible to a wide range of customers. The value for money is highlighted, with examples of two meals and two drinks costing £33. This suggests that the Turnpike Inn offers good quality food at affordable prices.
Another strength of the Turnpike Inn is the friendly and accommodating staff. This positive interaction enhances the overall dining experience and creates a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
While the overall feedback is overwhelmingly positive, there are a couple of weaknesses that emerge from the comments. One comment mentions that the pub's decor is old-fashioned and not to their taste. However, it is noted that the pub is clean and tidy, suggesting that the decor may simply be a matter of personal preference rather than a cleanliness issue.
Another negative comment mentions a disappointing experience with the Sunday carvery since management changed. The food is described as bland and not hot enough, and the landlady is criticized for being curt and uninterested in customer feedback. This suggests a potential decline in quality since the change in management, which may impact the overall dining experience for some customers.
In conclusion, the Turnpike Inn has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation, including a warm welcome, great food, a wide choice of drinks, and a friendly and accommodating staff. The pub's pricing is also seen as reasonable, and the ambiance created by the decor and the log fire is appreciated. However, there are a couple of weaknesses highlighted, including the outdated decor and a potentially disappointing Sunday carvery experience. Overall, the strengths of the Turnpike Inn seem to outweigh its weaknesses, as evidenced by the majority of positive comments from satisfied customers.

Gorgeous village pub, beautiful decor, great staff, very friendly and helpful, lush cocktails, and amazing food (including a Sunday carvery) all at a very reasonable price!
Beaut log fire for the colder months and a nice sized clean garden at the rear for when the suns out!
We all love it here! We popped over on Christmas day for a couple of rounds and it's always a perfect atmosphere in there!
Very nice traditional pub with super friendly staff. We booked for a meal on a Sunday which is only a carvery option, large or medium. We all had beef roasts which were nice the beef itself was very nice. The range of veg was around 5-6 options, plenty to build a delightful meal. Stuffing was also worth an additional mention being a it was very nice, slightly stodgy lots of flavour. We did ask for some additional items of mint sauce and horseradish and the lovely staff only too happy to accommodate.
There is a range of desserts as well as off menu options including chocolate gateaux and lemon cheesecake which I opted for. Very pleased I did.
The decor and log fire is something I find myself steering towards as it becomes harder to find so some may say update but personally I thought it was great and wouldn't change a thing. Whole place was tidy and clean it had plenty of parking and a big outside space if you had children or pets being as it's pet friendly.
Excellent food, really tasty. We had the belly pork and the pie of the day (steak and ale), you can tell it’s been cooked over a long period of time as the meat was so tender. Great flavours. We turned up and whilst the inside was fully booked, there were plenty of seats outside in the beer garden. Pricing is very reasonable (two meals plus two drinks at £33). Parking is available and well thought out, in one end and out the other. I really can’t fault any of the experience, five stars.
????????????????????????????????????????????
Very old fashioned pub not a fan of the decor ~ tho it was clean & tidy inside Waitress attentive & rather miserable
Food was delicious hot & tasty I had Pork Belly with Mash & Veg
Hubby had Turnpike Homemade Burger Chips & Salad ( which was lovely & fresh ) Hubby enjoyed Lemon & Mascarpone Cheesecake It was quite busy for a Thursday evening
Dreadful experience today, dont believe all those good reviews. This used to be a great pub for a Sunday carvery. This is the first time that we have been since it changed management .The food was terrible , bland not hot enough .I had to pick through 5 trays before I found one that didn't have food on it. The landlady was curt and not interested in our views. Avoid this place, go to any other pub in Hayle if you want a halfway decent meal.
Very good quality food. Efficient service. Carvery was well worth the price. Would highly recommend.
