Comments such as "such lovely people and great food" and "some of the best Chinese food I've had in ages" demonstrate that the restaurant is capable of delivering tasty and enjoyable meals. The fact that a picky eater was impressed speaks volumes about the quality of their dishes.
2. Traditional and Authentic: Several reviewers praised the restaurant for maintaining a traditional and authentic feel. The comment, "very traditional, foil trays, and cash only," highlights that V & V Chinese Takeaway sticks to traditional methods, which can contribute to a unique and nostalgic experience for customers seeking an old-fashioned takeaway treat.
3. Quick Service: Many customers mentioned that their orders were prepared quickly. The comment, "always tasty and made quickly" indicates that the restaurant is efficient in delivering its food, which can be appealing to customers who are in a rush or have limited time to wait.
4. Engagement with Customers: V & V Chinese Takeaway has received positive feedback for its engagement with customers. The comment about celebrating the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival with the restaurant shows that the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, creating a pleasant dining experience and fostering a sense of community.
Weaknesses:
1. Expensive: One recurring criticism is that V & V Chinese Takeaway is expensive compared to other local options. The comment, "V & V is very expensive" implies that the prices may not be proportionate to the portion sizes and quality of the food, making it less accessible for some customers.
2. Small Portions: Another complaint is that the portions at V & V Chinese Takeaway are small. The comment, "smallest portions I've seen" suggests that customers may feel unsatisfied after their meal, potentially diminishing the overall dining experience.
3. Inconsistent Quality: While many customers praised the quality of the food, there were a few instances where the quality fell short. One customer mentioned that the ribs were tough and not very meaty, indicating that there may be inconsistency in the preparation and cooking of certain dishes.
4. Limited Payment Options: One common complaint is that V & V Chinese Takeaway only accepts cash. This can be inconvenient for customers who prefer to pay electronically or do not carry cash. The comment, "had to go via a cash point as they will only accept cash" suggests that this restriction may be an inconvenience for some customers.
5. Poor Service during Busy Periods: Some reviewers mentioned experiencing poor service during busy periods. The comment about missing dishes and poor assistance from the staff indicates that the restaurant may struggle to handle high demand, potentially leading to mistakes and unsatisfactory customer experiences.
In conclusion, V & V Chinese Takeaway has received praise for its quality food, traditional atmosphere, quick service, and engagement with customers. However, there are areas that need improvement, such as pricing, portion sizes, consistency in food quality, limited payment options, and managing service during peak periods. By addressing these weaknesses, V & V Chinese Takeaway can further enhance its strengths and provide a better overall dining experience for its customers.

I've obviously been spoilt with quality chinese food from my local take away in Hitchin? V&V is very expensive, smallest portions I've seen and very average quality. The ribs in particular were awful, tough and not very meaty. Also had to go via a cash point as they will only accept cash, wonder why that is, not paying their taxes? No delivery service either, talk about have it all their own way!
Ordered from here whilst in the area visiting friends, very good the roast pork curry was good, as was the Singapore Chow mein. They kno how to cook proper chinese food. The curry wasnt quite hot enough for me personally, but was in the right direction. Will use again when in the area. I am actually very picky when it comes to Chinese food so it must be good if I'm impressed and I am.
Superb!! We have been regulars here for years, and i have to say our meal tonight after a hard day slogging was absolutely amazing!! Crispy chicken balls, superb mixed curry and beautiful rice. Absolutely ???? %.
Great chinese food. Always tasty and made quickly.
Such lovely people and great food! We celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival for the first time this year and it was lovely to learn more about it from them!
Cannot recommend this takeaway restaurant enough and you should get over there in the next few days to celebrate the festival - check out the full moon tonight too ????
Been using this Chinese for so long and up until recently it has been amazing. Unfortunately they are taking on too many orders and cannot cope with the demand which has led too poor service. On multiple occasions they have missed of dishes, I gave them the benefit of the doubt but on the second occasion they missed of 5 dishes and we had paid for around 20 to 30 dishes. We were having a big family get together and were missing key dishes for family with dietary requirements. After phoning V&V they weren’t very helpful at all, we were offered to pick up missing dishes but by the time we would collect the rest of the food would be cold. I usually double check the amount of food in the order but it is mission impossible when there are so many dishes. I actually felt sorry for the young people working on reception as they were so stressed due to the amount of orders and very little staff. Don’t get me wrong the food is great but service is ????.
Not been to this place in over 35 years. Seen good reviews, so went out of my way to try it again. I wasn't disappointed. Very traditional, foil trays, and cash only. Quality and value, and felt like a very special, old fashioned takeaway treat...
Some of the best Chinese food I've had in ages. It wasn't greasy. But the ribs were in a very odd sauce that wasn't BBQ. Chicken balls were far better than other takeaways in Hertford, the ginger chicken was lovely and overall, my 99 year old grandmother's first Chinese ever was very enjoyable. She can't see well, but finished all 7 dishes we ordered, she even had seconds! ????
