Quick Facts About Windsor Hotel
The Windsor Hotel is a mixed bag, with both strengths and weaknesses. One of its prominent strengths is the open mic night on Tuesday evenings. This event allows local talent to showcase their abilities and encourages a sense of community and sharing. The welcoming host, Andy, is praised for creating an inclusive and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy. This open mic night has the potential to further flourish and bring more people together.
Another strength of the Windsor Hotel is its affiliation with SA Brains, a well-known eatery. Visitors have reported enjoying their meals at the pub, particularly the burger, local cheese board, and haddock fish cakes in a leak sauce. The food is described as good, and the service is praised for being satisfactory. In addition, the prices are considered reasonable, which adds value to the overall dining experience.
The pub is also commended for offering a variety of entertainment options. Visitors appreciate having the choice between watching TV, playing pool, and enjoying darts. The presence of live music on Friday nights adds to the lively atmosphere of the pub. The combination of good food, friendly staff, and ample entertainment options contributes to a positive overall experience for patrons.
In terms of drinks, the selection is described as average with reasonably priced options. This can be seen as a strength, as it caters to a range of preferences without breaking the bank. Furthermore, the pub is recognized for its comfortable surroundings, creating a pleasant and inviting ambiance.
Despite these strengths, the Windsor Hotel has some notable weaknesses. One comment suggests that the pub lacks soul and is considered boring. This criticism might stem from a lack of unique or memorable features within the establishment.
One disappointed customer highlights the limited menu options, specifically the absence of a Sunday roast option. This omission can be seen as a weakness, as traditional pub food often includes popular dishes like Sunday roasts. The customer also expresses dissatisfaction with a child's meal, which was initially served without pizza and later substituted with a microwave pizza. Additionally, the complaint about a lack of sauce for the steak suggests that the portion sizes and accompaniments may not always meet expectations.
Another concern raised by a former fan of the pub is the decline in quality due to a perceived lack of care from the landlord. This criticism suggests that the overall management and maintenance of the pub may need improvement. The customer also mentions that the pub has become cliquey, which can create an unwelcoming atmosphere for new or non-regular visitors. These weaknesses in management and social dynamics within the pub may contribute to a decline in overall satisfaction among customers.
On the other hand, there is a positive comment about the bar staff, praising them for their skills and friendliness. This indicates that the staff at the Windsor Hotel are generally competent and provide good service. It is suggested that having more pubs with similar bar staff would be beneficial.
In conclusion, the Windsor Hotel has several strengths, including its open mic night, affiliation with a reputable eatery, good food, friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, and entertainment options. However, there are also weaknesses, such as a limited menu selection, the absence of a Sunday roast option, occasional dissatisfaction with the quality of food, concerns about the level of care from the landlord, and clique-like behavior among some patrons. Addressing these weaknesses could help improve the overall experience at the Windsor Hotel and attract a wider range of customers.

The Windsor is a SA Brains eatery. My wife and I went on a Friday night and they had live music playing. I had a burger followed by a local cheese board and my wife had haddock fish cakes in a leak sauce. The service was good and the meal was reasonable priced.
What more do you want from a pub other than a great choice of beer, friendly staff and plenty of entertainment whether it be TV, pool or darts. Such a friendly atmosphere.
Good food. Friendly staff. Has entertainment nights.
Average selection of reasonably priced drinks. Comfortable surroundings, but a boring pub, no soul.
Very disappointed.
A very limited menu to choose from.
No Sunday roast option.
Child’s meal arrived with out pizza, when it did arrive it was a microwave pizza.
Steak was nice, not enough sauce.
Wasn’t busy.
Good beers and great bar staff, we need more of this type of pub
I used to love this pub but recently it has gone steeply downward. The landlord doesn't seem to care and is just sitting around every time I see him. It's also got very clique. Another pub bites the dust!
