Quick Facts About A Cut Above Sparta's Barber Shop
A Cut Above Sparta's Barber Shop has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, many customers praised the shop's cleanliness and modern, industrial feel. The clean environment contributes to a positive experience and enhances the professionalism of the staff. Additionally, the barbers were commended for their skills and expertise. Customers mentioned getting great haircuts, fades, and styles. The shop's reputation for providing excellent cuts and fades is a clear strength for A Cut Above Sparta.
Another strength highlighted is their service for both adults and kids. Customers mentioned that the barbers were patient and detailed with children's cuts, which is essential for a family-friendly atmosphere. A Cut Above Sparta seems to have developed a reputation for being skilled in cutting hair for customers of all ages.
Additionally, some customers appreciated the convenience of booking appointments through the app Booksy. This feature helps with the flow and organization of the shop, ensuring that customers can schedule their appointments easily and efficiently.
Moving on to the weaknesses identified in the comments, it is mentioned that A Cut Above Sparta does not accept walk-ins. Some customers had negative experiences where they were turned away despite the shop appearing empty. This lack of flexibility can be inconvenient for customers who prefer spur-of-the-moment haircuts or for those who are unable to book appointments through the app.
One significant weakness mentioned is the issue of price discrimination. One customer reported being charged a higher price for a men's haircut simply because they identify as female. This pricing policy is seen as unfair and discriminatory, leading to dissatisfaction and a loss of loyalty from that customer. This issue could potentially impact the shop's reputation and customer base, particularly among those who value equality and fairness.
Another point of criticism was the high prices. Some customers felt that the services were overpriced compared to their expectations. This perception of high cost might deter potential customers or lead to negative reviews, as individuals may feel they did not receive an appropriate value for the price paid.
Lastly, a customer reported experiencing misgendering from a barber. Assuming someone's gender and misgendering them can make individuals feel disrespected and unwelcome. This is a serious issue that could affect the shop's reputation negatively, especially in today's society where inclusivity and respect are highly valued.
In conclusion, A Cut Above Sparta's Barber Shop has strengths in its clean and modern environment, excellent barbers with skills for both adults and kids, and the convenience of booking through an app. However, the shop's weaknesses lie in their lack of flexibility regarding walk-ins, pricing discrimination, high prices, and issues related to misgendering. It is essential for the business to address these weaknesses and provide a more inclusive and customer-friendly experience to maintain and grow its reputation.

I’m a female and finally decided to chop off at least 8 inches of my hair and go to more of an edgy short cut and let me just say that I couldn’t be happier with how it came out! Cory nailed it and I am SO HAPPY! Shop is extremely clean with a great modern, industrial feel and prices were more than reasonable. I’m glad I picked a barber shop to do this since it’s more of a masculine style compared to my long hair. Excellent job and I’ll definitely be going back. Go check them out!
They don't take walk ins at all, tried twice in the same week got turned away both times. First time there's 2 guys chilling waiting for their appointments to arrive when they said "sorry we can't take you, we're all booked up". Place was empty. Owners response after I posted this review. "Response from the owner 25 minutes ago
The two guys were on lunch when you walked in we suggested to book an appointment through the app both times and you refused to download it. We can’t do anything if you walk in when we all have appointments or are on lunch " The guys didn't say they were on lunch. You shouldn't have to make an appointment for a ten minute men's haircut and I'm definitely not getting an app just to make an appointment at an overpriced barbershop that has no flexibility with customers.
Well run shop with the best barbers in the area, best fade I’ve been able to find in Sussex County. They’re great for for both adult and kids cuts, patient and detailed with the kids. You need to book through their app Booksy which helps with the flow.
I’ve been coming here for a few months. I’m a tomboy and prefer a very short, masculine, men’s haircut that stays out of my face. I heard good things about A Cut Above, and because it was a barbershop and specialized in men’s cuts, I thought it would be the perfect place to go. I had my third haircut with Michelle today, where she informed me as I was checking out that she would be charging me the price of a women’s haircut, which is $20 more. She told me that even though I received a men’s haircut and it was the same service, she charges all her female clients $55 so that was what it would be going forward. I will not be going back to an establishment that promotes price discrimination and charges some clients a higher price for the same service.
My husband went for the first time there this weekend… Michelle was very welcoming, professional, and did a great job on his hair!
Clean shop, professional staff, and a great cut! Gelin was thorough and provided me with one of the best haircuts I've had in a very long time. He's gained a loyal customer. I can't recommend A Cut Above enough!
A Cut Above is probably one of the cleanest barbershops I’ve been to in a long time. I’ve been looking for a new barber since I recently moved into the area.
Pros:
Chris was my barber and he was personable and professional
Chris seems to be the balanced personality in the shop
The shop was immaculate
Short wait, in and out
Parking available
Cons:
Not a shop for black hair
Very pricey - I expected more for the cost
My friend went to A Cut Above Sparta for their usual haircut. The barber assumed their gender and presumed to misgender them throughout the service. Once the service was done, the barber then charged extra for the cut that they normally get at the standard price. They were a loyal customer until this experience.
