Quick Facts About Cafe On The Pier
Cafe On The Pier has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Starting with the strengths, it is mentioned that the staff is friendly and efficient, providing good service. Additionally, the cafe is described as a traditional and homely setting with great views of the pier and beach. The menu choices are said to be good and there is something to cater for everyone's tastes. The food is mentioned to be delicious, with particular praise for the freshly cooked cod and chips. It is also highlighted that the cafe is dog-friendly, which is a positive aspect for pet owners.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses pointed out in the comments. One common complaint is regarding the portion sizes and value for money. It is mentioned that the fish and chip portions were meager for the cost of £15.00 or more, which left the customers feeling disappointed. The undercooked fish with pale and soft batter, as well as the pale and undercooked chips, were major letdowns for some visitors. There were also concerns about the hygiene and health and safety practices of the cafe. The mention of overflow waste water going into the car park and no one seeming to care is a significant issue that could affect the overall experience and potentially pose health risks. The rush in taking orders without proper back-checking on the quality of the food is another concern raised, as it could result in people getting ill. Additionally, one customer mentions that there are other animal-friendly places in St. Anne's that offer better value for money, implying that the prices at Cafe On The Pier might be too high for the quality and quantity of food provided.
Overall, while Cafe On The Pier has its strengths such as friendly staff, a pleasant ambiance, and delicious freshly cooked cod and chips, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. These weaknesses include the disappointment in portion sizes and value for money, undercooked food, concerns about hygiene and health and safety practices, and the perception that there are better options available in terms of both quality and price. By addressing these weaknesses and focusing on improving these aspects, Cafe On The Pier can enhance its customer experience and attract more satisfied and loyal customers.

Sadly Disappointing, We dropped in on a beautiful hot day on the 10th of August after driving back from France. Looking forward to a good old fish and chips. What we got was very disappointing meager portions 2 single fish and 1 portion of Chips Cost of £15.00 + and here's what we got.
The chips were OK but we could not say the fish were tasty. Despite the very Hot weather the staff were friendly and efficient.
Such a shame that we felt it was not value for the money.
What a shame, looked forward to a chippy tea for the family .
Not what was expected.. Fish totally under cooked with the batter pale and soft, the chips pale and under cooked.
The next day I expressed my concerns and we were offered another meal but I was not after that and I wanted it that evening not at that time. The colleague explained they had a new cook that evening and would pass the message on.
Outside the overflow waste water was going into the car park creating a big puddle of filthy foul water, with no one seeming to care it was happening. Later on I was on the promenade and saw a lady stomping back in with her fish and chips so was not a one off. Very busy chippy but seem to rush orders and no back checking on product . Someone could get ill if this carries on. Seems they more about taking as much money as possible over Basic Food Hygiene snd Health and Safety needs. Shame…
A great traditional cafe.
Serving a wide ranging menu of drinks meals and snacks in a homely setting.
Think of an éclair think twice the size, the same is true of their flapjacks
Lovely cafe. Good menu choices. Very clean with great views of the pier and beach. Staff very helpful.
Lovely view of the beach and useful as it is Dog Friendly however we ordered pie chips peas and a soup with hot drinks and not much change out of £30 which I didn’t deem good value for money there are better value for money animal friendly places in st Anne’s won’t be coming again …
A lovely gem of a place! The staff were lovely, the food delicious, and the prices are fair. There is so much choice and something to cater for everyone’s tastes. We had a family lunch here and it was lovely, so we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you x
The cod and chips were freshly cooked as our order was placed. They were really good. The service was excellent. We returned later for a couple of Kelly's ice creams which we enjoyed sat on one of the benches along the promenade. Recommended as the place to go for food and refreshments during a day out to St. Anne's beach.
I have had the cod and chips from here every time I have visited since May this year. Always freshly cooked and not too much batter on the fish just how I like it. I always recommend this place to people.
