Quick Facts About Cafe Roma - St Albans

Cafe Roma - St Albans Place has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One strength of Cafe Roma is that the staff know their coffee and can make it hot. This is an important aspect for coffee enthusiasts who value a well-made cup of coffee. Additionally, the cafe is praised for its selection of cakes, which adds to the enjoyment of the overall experience.
The cafe is also commended for its light entertainment, particularly for those who secure a window seat. This creates a pleasant atmosphere and adds to the overall charm of the cafe.
Another strength is that Cafe Roma is an independent shop. This is often seen as a positive aspect, as it supports local businesses and adds to the character of the area. The comment mentions that part of the reviewer wants to give the shop fewer stars to prevent it from becoming too busy, suggesting that there is a strong following and popularity surrounding the cafe.
A notable strength is the cafe's consideration for families. One comment mentions that they provided a small cup of warm milk with foam and chocolate powder for a toddler who tried to drink a cappuccino. This level of thoughtfulness towards families and accommodating their needs is a positive aspect.
One weakness of Cafe Roma, as mentioned by a comment, is the behavior of an older staff member in the mornings. They appear grumpy and preoccupied, which detracts from the overall customer experience. Additionally, the comment mentions that their manners are lacking, which is not ideal for someone in a customer-facing role. However, the comment also states that after this staff member leaves for the day, the cafe becomes a lovely place to be. This suggests that it is only a weakness during specific hours.
Another weakness that is highlighted in a comment is the lack of customer relations skills of the staff. The comment mentions that the staff is unfriendly, which may contribute to the presence of empty tables and seats. This indicates that the customer service experience may not be up to par.
The comment about pushy staff pushing the customer to order quickly also indicates a weakness in the staff's customer service skills. A warm welcome is essential to creating a positive experience for customers, and the comment suggests that it is lacking in this regard.
The mention of the toilet being in need of renovation is another weakness of Cafe Roma. A clean and well-maintained restroom is a basic expectation for any establishment, and the mention of it being "Gulagesque" suggests that it is quite unpleasant.
Overall, Cafe Roma - St Albans Place has several strengths such as its knowledgeable staff, good coffee, and selection of cakes. However, there are weaknesses in terms of the behavior and customer service skills of certain staff members, as well as the condition of the restroom. These weaknesses may impact the overall customer experience and perception of the cafe.

It's a coffee and cake delight.
Staff know their coffee, and also know how to make it hot. It is not warm and frothy but just right.
They also do cakes and light entertainment if you have a window seat.
Part of me wants to give it less stars to stop it getting too busy, but it is a wonderful independent shop.
Had a fantastic coffee and cake here with family on our Sunday wall. We came with a toddler who tried to drink daddy's cappuccino, and so we got a small cup of sarm milk with foam and chocolate powder. Very thoughtful.
This is a lovely place to be after lunchtime. The coffee is always good and the décor is nice. They have a great selection of cakes everyday and the opening times are very accommodating.
In the mornings, unfortunately, the older man who "works" there is rather grumpy. He seems preoccupied with getting back to his phone, or discussing his right-wing views with his crony. His manners are also extremely lacking, especially given his customer-facing role.
After he's left for the day, this is a lovely place to be.
As a retreat from the street noise and a chance to have a sweet nibble, I dragged Mummy Debra in here. Sharing a White Chocolate Trippin we fought together to cut the thing, bits flying off everywhere! Perhaps this is why the café worker didn’t offer us a fork but Mummy was left to for one. It was our first time tackling a tiffin; so, perhaps they are normally eaten with the hands and it was mummy’s faux par!
Sitting on a sack-covered chair seat, we enjoyed our little sweet treat even if it was an arduous task to consume it. Mini Panettone hang from the wall lamps, perhaps trying to give a sense of uniqueness I was wondering whether the boxes contained the Panettone or were just for show. The staff member was friendly to a teddy bear and the place was almost empty. No accessible lavatory.
Nice coffee, staff need to learn some customer relations skills. Very un friendly. That’s probably why there’s always empty tables / seats
Came in for a quick stop before the school run. Decent variety of products. Staff were a bit pushy for me to order so they could get back to their conversation. Not a very warm welcome. Outdoor seating which is a nice touch on a sunny day. The toilet is very Gulagesque and could do with a renovation. All in all an okay cafe but not really value for money.
A great cup of freshly made coffee, one could select a choice of roasted coffee beans which is on displayed. Im not keen on the over sweet Almond tart. Self service, order, pay & collect.
Wonderful pastries and other delights plus delicious coffee. An excellent spot in St. Albans.
