Quick Facts About Castle Fish Bar

Castle Fish Bar is a popular chip shop in Caerphilly known for its friendly service and excellent food. Customers have praised the provisions that have been put in place for social distancing and the safety of both the staff and customers. The food, particularly the fish and chips, is often described as some of the best in the area.
One customer who visited in August 2018 stated that the food was amazing and they can't wait to go back one day, even mentioning the impact of Covid on their ability to revisit. Another customer commented on the brilliant and fresh fish, as well as the lovely chips, expressing their intention to return in the future. These positive comments highlight the quality of the food and suggest that it is a place worth visiting.
One customer mentioned that the chip shop has good fish and chips, as well as two curry choices, with one being hotter than the other. They also mentioned that it is a perfect place to sit in the park behind or plan a wander around Caerphilly Castle. This comment suggests that the location of Castle Fish Bar is a strength, as it provides the opportunity for customers to enjoy their food in a scenic setting.
However, there are also some weaknesses that have been mentioned by customers. One recurring criticism is the speed of service. Several customers have mentioned that the chip shop is often slow, with long waiting times. One customer mentioned that they have been turned away in the past when visiting close to closing time, being told that only what is left will be served. This suggests a lack of flexibility and a potential inconvenience for customers who may want to eat later in the evening.
Another customer mentioned that they have tried to phone in orders on three separate occasions but received no answer on the phone. This indicates a potential issue with communication and customer service. If customers are unable to place orders in advance, it can lead to longer wait times and frustration.
One customer noted a concerning incident regarding the handling of cash and the lack of adherence to safety measures. The staff member was asked to wear their mask and clean their hands, but they only used a small amount of hand gel and did not properly wash their hands. The customer felt that this was not satisfactory for a food establishment and it caused them to leave without their food. This incident raises concerns about hygiene practices and the importance of following safety protocols.
In conclusion, Castle Fish Bar has strengths in terms of friendly service, excellent food, and provisions for social distancing and safety. Customers have praised the quality of the food, particularly the fish and chips, and have recommended the chip shop. However, there are weaknesses in the form of slow service, potential difficulties in placing phone orders, and concerns about hygiene practices. These issues may impact the overall experience for customers and should be addressed to improve the overall reputation and satisfaction of Castle Fish Bar.

Best TL Reviews

Friendly service and excellent food. Great provisions for social distancing and the safety of staff and customers. Is say the best chips in Caerphilly by far. Highly recommended.
Was here august 2018! Amazing food! Fish and chips are some of the best! Can’t wait to go back one day after this stupid Covid
Brilliant and fresh fish! Lovely chippies! I will be back!
Local is LEKKER!
Good fish and chips, along with two curry choices, once hotter than the other. Perfect if you want to sit in the park behind or plan a wander around Caerphilly Castle.
This chip shop is by far the best in Caerphilly but unfortunately it is also one of the slowest. They close at 9 o'clock. A couple of times I've been over about 8.15 and told they only have what's left and won't cook anything else. Also, I have tried to phone in orders on 3 seperate occasions so as to not wait but no answer on the phone. Such a shame as its lovely
Lovely chips but it has to be the slowest chip shop I have ever been in 3 serving and 35 min wait and its not the first time it always takes ages and no i didn't order fish. I'm sorry to have to write this but I just don't understand why it takes so long.
Brilliant chips, nice and brown and crispy - not white and greasy . Doesn't cause a bloated tum either like some do. Lovely staff, Highly recommend. xx
The person serving was handling cash and not wearing their mask when they were ask to at least pop their mask on and clean their hands, after watching them serving and taking cash, hand washing is a simple thing and as a food establishment should be done as standard they took a tiny amount of hand gel and rubbed it into their finger tips, sorry but this isn't hand washing, they have then put on the mask, completely pointless.
Safe to say I asked the member of staff that night to clean their hands and not touch their mask before handling food and was met with an eye roll attitude, So I walked back to my car without food, safe to say this isn't my first experience of this at this shop but thought I'd give it another go.
