Quick Facts About Chip & Fin
Chip & Fin place has received mostly positive comments from its customers, highlighting several strengths of the establishment. These strengths include the quality of the food, the friendly and cheerful staff, the clean and modern shop, and the large portion sizes. However, there are also a few weaknesses mentioned, such as overcooked fish, disappointing onion rings, and non-crispy chips. Additionally, the fact that they only accept cash and that there is a fee for using the cash machine next door is also seen as a downside.
One major strength of Chip & Fin place is the quality of the food. Customers have consistently praised the taste and freshness of the fish and chips. One customer even described it as the best fish and chip shop around. The fact that the fish is cooked fresh to order is seen as a major benefit, as it ensures a high level of quality and freshness. Another strength that is mentioned is the large portion sizes. Customers appreciate the value for money and enjoy the generous servings of fish and chips.
The friendly and cheerful staff is also highlighted as a strength of Chip & Fin place. Customers appreciate the warm welcome they receive when entering the shop and enjoy the banter and laughter provided by the staff. This adds to the overall positive dining experience and creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It is evident from the comments that the owner of the shop is particularly praised for always being happy and smiling.
The cleanliness and modernity of the shop are also mentioned as strengths. Customers appreciate the effort put into maintaining a clean and tidy environment, which enhances their dining experience. The modern decor adds to the overall ambiance of the shop and creates a pleasant atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meal.
Despite the strengths mentioned, there are also a few weaknesses identified by customers. One recurring complaint is that the fish is sometimes overcooked. While customers appreciate the freshness of the fish, it is important to ensure that it is cooked properly to maintain its taste and texture. Overcooking can lead to a dry and tough fish, which is not ideal. Additionally, some customers have been disappointed with the onion rings, stating that they expected whole onion rings rather than reformed ones. This suggests that there may be a discrepancy between customer expectations and the actual product served.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of crispiness in the chips. Customers expect chips from a fish and chip shop to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It seems that the chips at Chip & Fin place do not always meet this expectation. This can be seen as a missed opportunity to further enhance the overall dining experience.
One practical issue that has been mentioned is the cash-only policy of the shop. While this may not be a major concern for some customers, for those who do not carry cash or prefer to pay by card, it can be an inconvenience. The fact that the cash machine next door charges a fee for withdrawals adds to this frustration.
Overall, the strengths of Chip & Fin place include the quality of the food, the friendly and cheerful staff, the cleanliness and modernity of the shop, and the large portion sizes. These aspects contribute to a positive dining experience for many customers. However, there are also areas for improvement, such as ensuring that the fish is not overcooked, providing whole onion rings instead of reformed ones, and achieving crispier chips. Additionally, considering alternative payment options, such as accepting card payments, may help to improve customer satisfaction.

What a lovely clean and modern shop. Smiles when you walk in the door. Food was the best I’ve had for a while well done.
Tracey and her awesome team run the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to. The food is fantastic and the fish is always cooked fresh to order, everything they do is first-class. The customer service is second to none, I always have a great laugh when I visit. The perfect Fish & Chip shop.
Over-cooked all the fish, despite having to wait for them to cook it. We were disappointed with the reformed onion rings, we expected whole onion rings. Chips weren't crispy at all. Cash only So they refused my card, the only cash machine in the shop next door charges almost £2. On the plus side nothing was greasy and the chips taste of superb after they came out the oven.
Best fish and chip shop around, staff are very friendly and cheerful. The place looks really clean and tidy and the chips are stunning, I had fish and chips and it was lush!! Nice big portions too. Definitely recommend
