Quick Facts About City Place

City Place has several strengths that make it a popular destination for coffee and brunch. One of the strengths mentioned is their extensive menu, with many vegan and vegetarian options available. This is a major advantage for individuals with specific dietary restrictions or preferences, as it can often be difficult to find suitable options at other establishments.
Additionally, many reviewers highlight the excellent coffee served at City Place. The quality of coffee is important for many customers, and the positive feedback suggests that City Place excels in this aspect. The ability to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee alongside their meal is a major draw for customers.
The friendly and prompt waiter service is also a strength of City Place. The waitstaff's attentiveness and positive attitude contribute to a pleasant dining experience. Excellent service is crucial for customer satisfaction, and City Place seems to consistently deliver in this area.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the atmosphere of the restaurant. The presence of a courtyard at the back of the establishment offers additional seating options, creating a more spacious and relaxed environment. This is particularly appealing to customers who prefer outdoor dining or desire more space.
Furthermore, the positive reviews often mention the quality of the food at City Place. Dishes such as the salt beef platter and the salmon beigel are praised for their generous portion sizes and exceptional taste. The high-quality food, combined with the friendly service, contributes to an overall positive dining experience for customers.
However, there are some weaknesses that have been identified by reviewers. One common criticism is the limited portion sizes for the prices charged. Some customers feel that the prices are somewhat high, given the small amount of food provided. This may deter potential customers who are seeking more value for their money.
Another weakness mentioned by a reviewer is the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. While City Place offers many vegan options, it may be necessary to expand their selection of vegetarian dishes to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences. This could potentially increase the appeal of the restaurant to a larger customer base.
It is also worth noting that some customers feel that City Place is better suited for cakes and coffee rather than savory food. This suggests that the quality and value of the non-dessert items may not be as strong as other menu offerings. This could be an area for improvement.
Additionally, a concern raised by one reviewer is the presence of dogs inside the establishment. While City Place is dog-friendly, some customers express their preference for dogs to be limited to the front courtyard area. This indicates that the presence of dogs inside the restaurant may detract from the overall dining experience for some individuals.
In conclusion, City Place offers several strengths that contribute to its popularity, including an extensive menu, excellent coffee, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, there are some weaknesses that could be addressed, such as limited portion sizes for the prices charged and the need for more vegetarian options. By addressing these areas of improvement, City Place has the potential to become an even more attractive dining destination.

Best TL Reviews

Lovely place on the high street with lots of choice on the menu. The cortado was nice. However, for a full veggie fry up at £11.95, I was disappointed to see only one hash brown, one small toast, a very small portion of beans, a tiny veggie sausage and what only could have been 6 spinach leaves on my plate. The mushrooms and eggs were fine.
I would go back to try other things on the menu but for a fry up there's many other places in the area.
Excellent coffee & brunch spot, wide menu, many vegan and vegeterian options available. Delicious pastry and the nicest staff!
Really lovely waiter service - prompt but friendly. Had a side order of salad made with fresh ingredients to accompany my fave tuna melt panini washed down with a refreshing green smoothie. My meal ended with an oat milk cappuccino to finish - and one very happy customer.
This is my second visit and both times I've had great coffee and delicious food. There's a few vegan options on the menu but I think they need to have a few more veggie options too.
They have a nice courtyard at the back with more seating. My only criticism is that dogs are allowed to go through the narrow front door and passageway to the back. I even saw the waitress touching the dog. I would have preferred if people with dogs sat at the front courtyard instead.
Overall great food and service.
The experience at City Place is that good, that I put my knife and fork down to write this review. I had the salt beef platter, which was phenomenal, and my girlfriend had the salmon beigel. The portion sizes were generous and the quality of food second to none. It is a long time since I have sat at the end of a meal thinking wow. That clock can now be reset. My girlfriend is ridiculously picky, and not even she is complaining. All of this was accompanied by 5 star service. Would highly recommend for couples, families, babies. Everyone!
I think this place is better for cakes and coffee rather than savory food. It does have good cakes. We had a couple of toasties though, and it seemed pretty poor value, £8 for two slices of white bread, a ham slice with some cheese and some coleslaw. Would rather pay £6 at a nearby cafe, maybe Caesar's palace, for a full English breakfast.
The owner’s work here so service is pretty good considering how busy it is. Not the most relaxing place as it’s cold and chaotic with noise when full. The Berry smoothie was terrible.. just cold mush and came so quickly that it was obvious they prepared in advance. The food is good overall but small portions for the prices they charge which is understandable perhaps due to the rental they must be paying for such large premises.
Nice food and coffee. Good vegan options. Dog friendly. Better value than some places in the area. Excellent vegan pastries- these are pricey but huge and you could share easily.
