Visited this fish and chips shop and I have to say I am extremely pleased to have done so.
From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the amazing staff who were so friendly! The food took less than 15 minutes to be ready and my highlight was getting home and trying their nuggets and fries, they were so crispy and delicious!
Will be definitely going again!
Ordered large fish and chips and a battered sausage. Generous portions, freshly cooked and not (too) greasy. Delicious????
Pleasantly surprised. As others have said you need to wait because it’s cooked fresh. Great fish, good portions and decent chips which is quite rare these days. Definitely 5 stars.
(Please start selling gravy!)
This place definitely has the BEST fish and chips which is served fresh....don't forget to ask for the ( tar tar may be) dip and lemon wedge that takes the fish to another level. The owners/ management is very friendly and kind...our little boy was offered a complimentary fish pie while we waited for our order to get ready????this is currently a takeaway but has island table at one end if you want to eat there ????
Hands down some of the best fish shop food i’ve eaten and I spent my childhood in Cornwall.
I ended up eating £35 worth of battered goodness in one greasy sitting. All human reflexes left my body and I simply devoured every last amber coloured flake of batter.
The next day I spent the morning in the shower, contemplating the animalistic impulse that washed over me, undoing millennia of psychological evolution in one crispy bite.
As much as I’d love to return, I simply won’t be able to contain myself if I were to go back to this chippy, I may devolve to a lower state of consciousness.
Because of this fried establishment, I must contemplate a life without Cobham Fish Bar’s scran. This leaves an immensely sad feeling within me.
I hope you enjoy their food as much as I did.
As for the comments relating to the wait time, the wait is irrelevant. If you’re visiting for some stale trawler caught cod, then look elsewhere. The fish is cooked right before your very eyes by keen employees that exist only for us humans culinary enjoyment. They show a genuine interest in the customers day and diligently go through your order to ensure that there are no dinner-time disasters.
This team envisage “Quae Sursum Sunt Quaerite”.
After eating the food from here tonight I had to leave a message, perfectly fried fish, amazing chips and it didn't break the bank, please support this great value great food establishment, thanks guys ,, merry Christmas.
This place its not somewhere you drive past, but you should. Order by phone in advance or wait 15 minutes as everything is cooked fresh. Hands down the best fish & chips I've ever had, perfectly cooked! Huge fish portion in a perfect batter and a great bag of superb chips. I will happily revisit whenever I can. This place deserves to be at the top of your list.
Happen to stop here one day by chance and I have been returning ever since even though it’s not on my doorstep. The portions are generous. The chips are crispy on the outside and piping hot. The fish is perfect - melts in your mouth and the batter is crispy. The tartar sauce… lovely! Not your average fish and chips!
