Positive Comments:
1. The commenter praises Da Kinez Barbershop as the best barber shop they have visited in the past three years. They highlight the top-shelf barbers and the fun atmosphere, indicating that the overall experience is excellent.
2. Richard, a barber at the shop, is praised for his exceptional skills and creativity. The commenter mentions that Richard spent five hours working on a hair coloring and also created impressive designs. They express complete satisfaction with their haircut and credit Richard's vision and craftsmanship.
3. The atmosphere of the shop is highly appreciated, with one commenter stating that they will definitely visit again whenever they are in Oahu. Although parking may be challenging, it does not detract significantly from the quality of the cuts and the positive overall experience.
4. Another customer comments on the great haircut their son received, praising the respectful and amiable behavior of the barbers. They mention that they will bring their son back due to the excellent atmosphere, friendly staff, and reasonable prices.
Negative Comments:
1. One customer expresses deep disappointment with the haircut their African American son received. They mention that the barber did not know how to cut African American hair and their son's hair ended up thin and patchy. This negative experience leads them to declare that their son will never visit the shop again.
2. A frustrated customer shares their experience of waiting for their scheduled appointment for an hour only to be told that the barber had gone to lunch. They then had to wait for almost another hour, during which other customers with later appointments were taken before them. This experience, along with a history of past appointments where they were made to wait, leads them to declare that they will never return to the shop.
3. Another customer raises concerns about preferential treatment given to regular or friend customers. They express disappointment that customers who arrived after them were taken before them, indicating that Da Kinez Barbershop prioritizes regulars and friends over walk-ins. Based on these comments, the strengths of Da Kinez Barbershop (Waipahu Location) can be summarized as follows:
1. Highly skilled barbers who can deliver creative and unique haircuts. 2. Fun atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. 3. Positive customer interactions and respect towards customers, especially parents. 4. Reasonable prices compared to other barber shops on the island.
On the other hand, the weaknesses observed are:
1. Inadequate knowledge or expertise in cutting African American hair, leading to unsatisfactory results for customers with such hair texture. 2. Issues with appointment management, including long waits and preferential treatment for regular or friend customers, creating a sense of unfairness and dissatisfaction.
In conclusion, Da Kinez Barbershop has strengths in terms of skilled barbers, a fun atmosphere, and positive customer interactions. However, they need to work on addressing their weaknesses, particularly in improving their knowledge of diverse hair textures and addressing issues with appointment management to ensure an equal and fair experience for all customers.

Best TL Reviews

Da Kinez is by far the best barber shop I've been to in at least the past three years. From the top-shelf barbers to the fun atmosphere, I can't imagine their doing much more to craft a better experience for their patrons.
Richard spent a total of five hours working to achieve my girlfriend's vision of silver-purple dye for her hair coloring. In addition to that, he cut a fresh trio of designs into her side- and back-shaves, the best of which incorporated her Filipino tribal tattoo.
Richard also gave me my first undercut: a dope, original design which incorporated Aztec, Filipino, and Hawaiian elements. I've never been happier with a haircut, and that is all owed to Richard's vision and craftsmanship.
Simply cannot recommend Da Kinez highly enough. Definitely coming through whenever I'm in Oahu.
Note that negotiating parking can be a bit of a pain; however, the quality of the cuts and atmosphere of the shop more than makes up for whatever slight hassle that might present.
My son got his hair cut here today and they patched his hair at the top. It’s very thin with patchy spots. My husband haircut looks fine but our son…smh. Whoever the barber was obviously does not know how to cut African American texture of hair. Very upsetting. My son will never be coming here again.
First time there and absolutely loved it. The cut my son got was on point and the guys working were very respectful to me (as a mom waiting) and very amiable to their customers. I will definitely be bringing my son back. Great atmosphere, people, and price... winnaz in my book!
****NEVER COMING BACK!****
My 5yr old son and I arrived for scheduled appointment only to be told barber went to lunch. The only barber there said to wait for him. Waited almost an hour only to have people who had later appointment go ahead of us. I think people who didn't even have appointments went first and we were just ignored.
In past appointments this place always made me wait but this was the last time.
I've been getting my haircut here for about 4 months now. Glad I found this place. I've been to many all over the island. Most places are overpriced for less quality work. Not at Da Kinez. You're going to get a great fade and a perfect lineup. All the barbers can fade you so no need to worry about which chair you sit in.
???????? Best barbers around. Original hair cuts and styles to suit the most casual to the most formal. Affordable. Da Kines Barbershop is truly a one of a kine Barbershop. Call ahead to guarantee your appointment. You won't be disappointed.
Aloha! ????
First of all I'd like to thank Alii for doing my boys hairs they love it. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. When we had checked in we were told that it would be 45 mins to an hour. After an hour I had noticed that customers behind us were pulled in earlier as we waited. My sons had waited 2 hours to get their hair done. The barbers there were taking their regulars and/or friends before the walk ins. I had approached the cashier about but sadly she had no say. She did bring it to the shop owners attention and did nothing about it. Bottom line if your not a regular or a friend you will be put aside.
If that's the way you guys want to run your business maybe you should consider being a backyard barber.
Lovely barbers especially Jomah. They are good at what they do. Make sure you call to book an appointment before going.
