Quick Facts About Donnie Road Fishbar

Donnie Road Fishbar is a restaurant that serves fish and chips. Based on the comments provided, the restaurant has both strengths and weaknesses that can be analyzed in more detail.
Starting with the strengths, one aspect highlighted by a customer is the freshness of the fish. It is mentioned that the fish batter was cooked properly and the fish itself was fresh, unlike at other chip shops in the area. Another positive point mentioned is the quantity of chips served, which was considered excessive by one customer. Additionally, the mushy peas were praised for being good and not fluorescent green. The cleanliness of the shop and the pleasant and eager-to-help staff are also mentioned as positive aspects that make the place worth a visit.
On the other hand, the negative comments point out several weaknesses of Donnie Road Fishbar. Firstly, it is mentioned that the fish served is cut down small but sold as regular-sized fish, indicating a potential issue with the portion sizes. The chips are described as tasting like they had been reheated from the previous day, which suggests a lack of freshness. Additionally, one customer found the fish cakes to be rock hard, indicating a problem with the quality of the food. Another customer complains about the high prices, rude staff, and lack of a price list, which they consider to be exploitative to the local community. This feedback suggests that the restaurant may have issues with consistency, customer service, and pricing strategy.
In terms of specific incidents, one customer had a negative experience with chips that were deemed inedible due to being fried multiple times. Another customer was disappointed by the lack of chips available close to closing time. They express frustration at the restaurant's failure to provide a staple item like chips despite still being open. Another customer describes the fish as dry and potentially refried, while the chips are criticized for being mostly the ends of the potatoes and lacking in flavor. Finally, a customer finds the fish cake to be burnt and the chips to have black eyes, indicating issues with both the cooking process and the quality of ingredients.
In conclusion, while Donnie Road Fishbar has some positive aspects such as fresh fish, excessive chip portions, good mushy peas, cleanliness, and friendly staff, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. These weaknesses include inconsistent portion sizes, chips that taste reheated, rock-hard fish cakes, high prices, rude staff, and issues with availability and quality of chips. Improvements in these areas would be necessary for the restaurant to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Cutting down fish that should be sold as small and selling them for regular, chips taste like they’re from yesterday and been put in fryer again and fish cakes rock hard
Very expensive. Rude staff. No price lists only flye4s which show cheaper prices and apparently start next week, £8.00 for a fish special where the fish was more like a fish finger. According to the server this will be £6.50 from next week, as its a deprived area and people cannot afford the prices, what a insult to the locals and jsu shows how the owners are exploiting customers. I will not bd returning and suggest everyone else avoids. This business dies not deserve to be successful.
Even the fish batter was cooked properly, the fish itself was fresh unlike the one I got at the frying pan, the chips were soft and sweet tasting, the quantity of chips was excessive ,had to have a load dumped back in the hot plate, I found everything up to now was greasy, but what do you expect if it’s deep fried, mushy peas were good and not fluorescent green.
The staff were pleasant and eager to help and the shop was clean. Well worth a visit.
I’ve been trying chip shops in the area trying to find a good one, this one is the only one that comes even close.
Wife called on way home from work on the 23rd February absolutely vile chips, must’ve been fried about 3 times or more they were inedible, we both threw them away. Definitely will never use this place again. Save your money.
What's the point in opening until 8 pm on a Saturday night if you don't have chips available at 7.45 pm. Surely if you are open until 8 chips should be available until 8. It is s "chip shop" after all. May as well close early if you can't be bothered to cook more chips!
Bit disappointed after reading all the other reviews. Fish was dry and probably a 're-fry' and the chips were mainly the ends of the potatoes. Crunchy and not really what we would class as a 'chip!' Had to lather ketchup on them to give it some taste.
Expected more, but let down.
Absolutely shocking tiny fish like rubber over priced.worst ive ever been too.pure rubbish.binned chips
Called Monday 30 May 2022 fish cake was black as fire back and the chips have big black eyes in them even the dog turned it's nose up at them
