Drum & Monkey Kenn Place is a pub that has received mixed reviews. There are both strengths and weaknesses highlighted in the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, one commenter mentioned that they were pleased to see the pub doing their part for nature and the environment. This suggests that Drum & Monkey Kenn Place has implemented sustainable practices, which can appeal to environmentally conscious customers. Additionally, another commenter praised the staff for their exceptional service, stating that they couldn't do enough for them. This indicates that the customer service at the pub is of a high standard and can leave a positive impression on visitors.
Furthermore, there is a positive review regarding the food and presentation. A customer mentioned that they visited for Sunday dinner and all four of them were impressed with the food and its presentation. This suggests that Drum & Monkey Kenn Place has skilled chefs who can prepare meals to a high standard and present them in an appealing way.
In terms of weaknesses, several comments mentioned issues with the quality and taste of the food. One customer stated that the coffee was tasteless, the crispy aromatic duck was neither crispy nor aromatic, the bread with scallops was stale, and the prawns were tepid with a sauce that seemed to come from a jar. These criticisms suggest that there may be inconsistencies in the quality and preparation of the food at Drum & Monkey Kenn Place.
Additionally, one comment highlighted the cleanliness issue of the pub. The commenter mentioned that the mess is only cleaned away when there is a gale. This indicates that there may be a lack of regular cleaning and maintenance, leading to a less appealing environment for customers.
Another weakness mentioned is the limited options on the Sunday lunch menu. A customer expressed disappointment in the limited choices available, with only a roast dinner being offered. Furthermore, the commenter stated that some elements of the roast, such as the parsnips and roast potatoes, were not cooked properly. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the preparation and execution of the menu items.
Lastly, there was a comment regarding the payment method. A customer mentioned that they visited when the pub was about to change managers, resulting in low stock and no way to pay by card. While this may have been a temporary issue due to the change in management, it can still impact the overall customer experience and convenience.
In conclusion, Drum & Monkey Kenn Place has both strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include their commitment to nature and the environment, excellent customer service, and positive reviews regarding the food and presentation. However, the weaknesses include inconsistencies in the quality and taste of the food, cleanliness issues, limited menu options, and problems with payment methods. It is important for the pub to address these weaknesses in order to improve the overall customer experience and maintain a positive reputation.

So disappointed. Stopped here based on the 4.3 star avg reviews and had coffees and 3 small plates. Coffee was tasteless, crispy aromatic duck was neither crispy nor aromatic (slimy skin/fat pan fried), bread with scallops was stale with 'spread' not butter, and prawns were tepid with a sauce out of a jar. Maybe it was low stocks/not usual staff between Christmas and New Year, but we left the food virtually untouched.
Glad to see a local Pub doing there bit for nature and the environment.
This has been like this for months. The only time the mess gets cleaned away is when there is a gale. The rhine at the back of the building is full of kitchen waste and containers.
Great novelty pub as it's in a giant drum shaped building and all the staff dress as monkies very convincingly. We had "grey air" for our main course which was dissapointing as hoped. My mum had a radish the size of colonel Gaddafi and polished to an incredible lustre. The evening was slighty let down by the staff whooping and hurling their excretia at us but I guess that's authentic. Locals said that it was standard for Kenn and that if we didn't like it we should go back to Bristol with our fancy ways.
Myself and Family visited for food yesterday Sunday 23rd March. All four of us went for a Sunday Dinner and none of us were disappointed, the food was amazing and the presentation was a very high standard.
track and trace was obtained on arrival, one way in and one way out system in use, sanitizer on every table and toilets were very clean.
the staff were brilliant they literally couldn't do enough for us.
All in all, a very well run pub, brilliant staff, the food second to none, very save experience and a nice homely welcome from the start.
thank you for a great experience I will be recommending you to all my friends and I will 100% be back with the family in the near future.
Heard lots of different reviews about the drum recently but I have to confirm the food was great and the staff were happy and friendly and very welcoming! Our table had 2 mixed grills, 3 rump steaks and a burger. Lovely food no complaints and great portion sizes!
Stopped here on the way to a night out in Clevedon, knowing it had a good reputation locally. The pub seemed lovely but was just about to change managers so the stocks were very low and there was no way to pay by card. We chatted to the new manager, who seems very eager to change things up and breathe new life into the pub. Looking forward to dropping in again soon.
Nice place with friendly staff, which does create a nice atmosphere. But Sunday lunch menu very limited. Roast dinner (3 meat choices)was the only option, meat was ok but parsnips were not cooked, roast potatoes were only just cooked. I would return for a drink but not for food.
Lovely place with pleasant staff and reasonably priced food. I had ham, eggs, peas & chips. Loads of ham and quite thick pieces, chips were crispy but very tasty. I thought they were great, other half wasn't so keen, just a matter of choice I suppose.
