Quick Facts About Duke of wellington

Duke of Wellington Place has a mix of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. To begin with, one strength mentioned is the delicious food. The steak and mushroom pie is described as home-cooked and piping hot, and is considered good value for money at £6.95. This suggests that the pub excels in providing tasty, affordable meals. Additionally, the pub is said to have a clean and nicely decorated interior, thanks to a recent refurbishment. This can create a pleasant atmosphere for customers and enhance their overall experience.
Another strength highlighted in the comments is the friendly staff. The young girl who served the customers was mentioned as being polite and accommodating, and the landlady is praised for her efforts in making visitors feel welcome. This indicates that the pub prioritizes good customer service and strives to create a welcoming environment for its patrons.
One of the weaknesses mentioned is the initial lack of service when the customers arrived. The lady who unlocked the door disappeared into the kitchen, and it took a few minutes for another staff member to come and provide menus and drinks. This suggests a lack of organization and attentiveness when it comes to handling customer arrivals. First impressions are important, and this negative experience may have detracted from the overall perception of the pub.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of variety in the food menu. The options are described as lacking imagination and not standing out. This indicates that the pub may not offer a wide range of choices for customers, and the food may not be particularly innovative or unique. This can be a drawback for customers seeking more diverse dining options.
In terms of the beverages, the pub is praised for its selection of pints and friendly bar staff. However, a comment mentions a lack of real ale options, with only one pump working. This can be disappointing for beer enthusiasts who prefer a wider selection of craft or local brews.
There is also a negative comment regarding the behavior of a bar staff member. They were reportedly swearing heavily, which made the commenter feel uncomfortable bringing a lady or business contact to the pub. This indicates a lack of professionalism and suggests that the pub may not have strict standards for staff conduct.
Overall, Duke of Wellington Place has some strengths such as delicious home-cooked food, friendly staff, and a clean and nicely decorated interior. However, there are also weaknesses including initial poor service, limited food menu options, a lack of real ale choices, and unprofessional behavior by a staff member. These aspects should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to visit this pub.

I have been here before but not recently.
First impressions today were not good. Our table was booked for 12:00 and the lady who unlocked the door disappeared into the kitchen and nobody else appeared for a few minutes. There were no menus either. Eventually a young girl came and gave us a menu and served us drinks.
We ordered the steak and mushroom pie and it was absolutely delicious. All home cooked and piping hot. Good value at £6.95. This pub used to be very busy on a Sunday and it’s a shame that it isn’t the case now. It has recently been refurbished and is clean with a nice decor.
The food is definitely 5 star if you don’t want anything fancy just home cooked tasty food. The staff are friendly too
If there's one thing I can say about this place is that it's amazing! It's been My local for a long long time. I will not go many other places,
The atmosphere is so .
chilling, I always feel calm and right at home. The staff have became friends and
the landlady cannot do enough to make your visit welcoming , just feel as though we have an extended family.
Thank you team Duke for always making us feel welcome ????
A busy little boozer that accommodates for the lowest common denominator but lack anything that makes it stand out.
It's got the usual suspects of fizzy largers and bar swill, but unfortunately is heavily lacking on the real ale side with only one pump working with a middle of the road inoffencive ale.
We looked at the menu for food but we're bitterly disappointed with the options. Again, there is very little imagination and nothing to stand out... We got the feeling that food is very much an afterthought. We decided not to order food and go elsewhere.
Really good pub with great selection of pints and friendly staff, girl who served me behind bar was called millie and was greeted with a smile and served with the upmost kindness
I was passing by this pub and popped in for a quick pint. I believe it's the job of a bar staff member to stop customers from swearing every other word for a ten minute period. However when it's a member of the bar staff behaving in this manner one can only conclude that you cannot take a lady or business contact into the pub, ever. 24/11/22.
Proper local friendly pub with a really good range of quality beers and other falling down water's, outstanding home made food, really good atmosphere helped along by the fantastic patrons and staff, kids, dogs and Morris Dancers are all welcome, free music supplied from a iPad on the wall (bring your own five year old to operate it if required) all are welcome to pop there favourite tunes on, live music once a month, Sky and BT Sports with Bar Billiards, Darts board, Skittles, Quiz night, Open the Box, Sticky 13's and other prize winning games to boot...
