Quick Facts About Fish Loves Chips
Fish Loves Chips is a chippy that has garnered a strong following over the years, with customers praising its fresh food, friendly staff, clean restaurant, and delicious fish and chips. The strengths of the establishment are evident in the numerous positive comments from satisfied customers.
One recurring theme in the comments is the quality of the food. Customers consistently mention the delicious taste, large portions, and good value for money. The chippy is praised for its well-cooked fish, crispy batter, and chunky chips. The mention of a Hollands meat pie from a customer from Australia highlights the wide range of menu options available and the ability to cater to different culinary preferences.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the friendliness of the staff. Several comments commend the pleasant and chatty demeanor of the employees, with specific mention of the "guy with the beard who cooks the fish" and the "young woman and young man who serve customers." This personalized service creates a welcoming atmosphere and contributes to the overall positive experience for customers.
Cleanliness is another strength noted by customers. The comment from an ambulance driver who happened to be on break outside the chippy highlights the spotless premises. This attention to cleanliness is important in a restaurant setting, as it enhances the overall dining experience and instills customer confidence in the establishment.
Additionally, the chippy is commended for its accommodating opening times, with the mention of opening hours being "very accommodating." This flexibility in operating hours demonstrates a willingness to cater to customers' needs and schedules, making it easier for them to enjoy a meal at the establishment.
However, some weaknesses are evident in the comments as well. One customer mentions a change in staff, specifically noting that the previous pleasant and chatty staff members have been replaced by disinterested and unengaged individuals. The lack of pleasantries and customer engagement is seen as a negative change and suggests a decline in the overall customer experience.
There is also a comment from a customer stating that their most recent order was disappointing. The fish was not lightly battered or well done, the chips appeared refried, and the mushy peas were described as watery and flavorless. This inconsistency in food quality suggests a lack of attention to detail and quality control.
Another weakness highlighted is the mention of a possible change in ownership. The customer expresses uncertainty about whether the chippy has been taken over by different owners, and this could potentially explain the decline in quality and customer service.
In conclusion, Fish Loves Chips has several strengths that have contributed to its positive reputation. These include delicious food, friendly staff, cleanliness, reasonable prices, and accommodating opening hours. However, there have been some recent weaknesses noted, such as a decline in staff quality and inconsistent food quality. These weaknesses should be addressed in order for the establishment to maintain its strong reputation and customer loyalty.

Another one bites the dust! For over a year, twice a week, this has been the best chippy in the area by far. Great fresh food, freshly cooked and extremely pleasant and chatty staff. The guy with the beard who cooks the fish and a young woman and young man who serve customers were especially good.
But today 14/03/23 its all changed. A man in front of me asked where all the usual staff were and the woman frying the fish seemed to take great joy in announcing in a loud voice that he had been sacked. In place of the usual two counter assistants referred to above were two kids who looked as though they had just come from school and were clearly disinterested in their role. The younger one spent the time I was there leaning on the counter. All three females did not offer any pleasantries with customers like the previous staff always - always - did. The older woman commented to one of the younger ones that the younger one probably earned more wages than the older one and all three were engaged in the important conversation about who would be getting lifts to and from work rather than engaging with customers.
Unfortunately a new chippy needs to be found now where staff are more interested in the customers than themselves. Such a shame. Fish Loves Chips was a great business and I looked forward to my twice weekly visits for our food.

Over from Australia visiting my parents in the area, unbelievable cravings for a Hollands meat pie! Huge tray of chips, pie, mushy peas and curry sauce…….oh boy did it hit the spot. Top chippy....well worth the trip from Rochdale for a chippy tea...
Great place to go and the staff are so friendly, I’ve called in a few times and the fish and chips are so nice and the prices are very reasonable. Going again soon .
This is usually our go to chippy and never have any complaints however, I'm not sure if they have been taken over by different owners but today's order wasn't even edible.
We asked for lightly battered, well done fish and it wasn't even battered on one side and was definitely not well done.
Also the chips have been refried, my Nana worked in a chippy for years and I also could tell just by looking at them.
Also the mushy peas were watery and flavourless.
Disappointed to have to write this review.

I honestly never have any complaints, we go regularly on a Wednesday as my sister's friend Caitlin works there. And like I said never have any complaints. Unfortunately this time just wasn't at the same standard. And yes it was a gentleman that cooked the fish that I haven't seen at the chippy before. Sorry you feel this way, I just wanted to leave feedback for future reference :)
