Quick Facts About Freight Restaurant Belfast
Freight Restaurant in Belfast has received a mix of positive and negative comments, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will explore these comments and provide a comprehensive overview of the strengths and weaknesses of Freight Restaurant.
Starting with the strengths, the most consistent praise in the comments is for the quality and taste of the food. Multiple comments describe the food as "fantastic," "excellent," and having "interesting flavor combinations." The grilled cheese is particularly singled out as being one of the best of its kind, with soft bread and a stunning filling. The katsu fries are also highly recommended. The menu is described as changing often, which suggests a commitment to freshness and variety. Moreover, the food is reasonably priced, making it accessible to a wider range of customers. The coffee is also commended for being very good.
The staff at Freight Restaurant also receive praise for their friendliness and helpfulness. One comment mentions a specific staff member named Michael, who apparently adds to the positive dining experience with his great personality and banter. This suggests that the staff are attentive and add an extra layer of enjoyment for customers. The outdoor dining experience is also praised, with comments mentioning fabulous food and commendations for the staff being helpful and friendly.
In terms of location, Freight Restaurant is said to be in a great location, attracting both locals and tourists. It is located on the Lisburn Road and is described as being worth a visit, with one comment even suggesting that queues would form if it were just a few minutes further up the road.
However, there are also several weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One common complaint is the loud music, which makes it difficult for customers to hold a conversation and enjoy a quieter lunch. This issue seems to have persisted, although one comment mentions that it has improved lately. Another weakness is the long waiting time between ordering and being served. Customers are advised to be prepared for at least a 30-minute wait, which may deter those looking for a quick meal.
Additional weaknesses include a limited selection of vegetarian options. One comment mentions that recently there has been only one vegetarian choice, which is disappointing. The observation of a chef using his phone and not washing his hands before preparing food is also concerning and raises questions about hygiene standards.
Two specific criticisms are the pricing and the payment method. One comment finds the price of half a banh mih to be steep at £11. This suggests that some customers may find the prices higher than expected. The fact that the restaurant only accepts cash is also mentioned as being bizarre and inconvenient, particularly considering current circumstances where many people prefer cashless payment options.
However, it is worth noting that the majority of the comments are positive, and the strengths of Freight Restaurant seem to outweigh the weaknesses. The consistently praised food quality, friendly staff, and enjoyable outdoor dining experience contribute to its positive reputation. Nonetheless, addressing the weaknesses, such as improving the music volume and diversifying the vegetarian options, could further enhance the overall dining experience at Freight Restaurant.

Not sure I'll be able to do the food justice. Genuinely fantastic food. I had a grilled cheese and it's very possibly the best grilled cheese I have had. Soft bread, which incredibly held together, and a stunning filling. I'll be dreaming of the katsu fries for a while. If you are in Belfast then you have to go.
2 really good mains and a decent side. For this reason it scraped the 4th star.
We had to sit ourselves when we entered and waited about 5 mins before a member of staff came out from behind the scenes and the music was way too loud. Could hardly hear ourselves talk and found ourselves shouting.
That really did disappoint our trip as we had been looking forward to coming here for a while and our first visit was was a let down.
Absolutely fantastic place. Great food and nice staff. If it was about 5 minutes further up the Lisburn Road, there would be queues around the corner to get in - well worth a visit.
Fantastic food and great service. Michael adds to your evening with his great personality and banter. Love that it's BYO too!
The weather was excellent so we enjoyed outdoor dining with fabulous food! Definitely recommend going and will be back for the French toast with bacon, egg and rhubarb! ???? The staff were really helpful and friendly.
The coffee was very good and the food was excellent with interesting flavour combinations. Very reasonably priced also.
The music was a little loud, so if you're looking for a quiet lunch then perhaps consider elsewhere, however I would certainly recommend otherwise and I shall be returning in the future.
Food is excellent, it's worth the wait, but there is such a long wait, you should be prepared for at least half an hour between ordering and service. Music can occasionally be too loud but has been better lately, menu changes often, recently there's been fewer veggie options which is disappointing but hopefully will be back to more than 1 choice next time.
Well presented food and overall very tasty in a great location.
A few disappointments:
Half a banh mih for £11 is very steep.
Cash only is bizarre, particularly in current circumstances.
You are able to see into the kitchen, a nice feature, but not when you can see the chef casually texting on his phone and then preparing food without washing his hands.
In terms of social distancing it was very good and well spaced out. All staff wore masks (even if a few had it beneath their noses)
