Quick Facts About Hair of the Dog Pub
The Hair of the Dog Pub has several strengths that contribute to its overall appeal. Firstly, many customers appreciate the pub's dive bar old pub feeling. This nostalgic atmosphere creates a unique and authentic experience, which many patrons love. The pub is also frequently praised for its great music selection, especially the 90s sound played at a reasonable volume. This contributes to the overall ambiance and provides an enjoyable background for conversation.
Another strength of the pub is its service. Multiple customers have commented positively about the friendly and attentive servers, specifically mentioning employees like Allison, Lauren, and Edward. These servers have been commended for their excellent customer service, including their willingness to engage in conversation and provide helpful suggestions regarding food and drinks. This level of service enhances the overall experience for customers and leaves a positive impression.
The food served at the Hair of the Dog Pub is also highly regarded by customers. Many comments mention the deliciousness of the dishes, such as the Banger's n Mash, the meatloaf, and the fried cheese. The positive reviews of the food indicate that it is well-prepared, seasoned appropriately, and leaves patrons satisfied. Additionally, the extensive local and domestic beer menu is often praised for its variety and quality. Customers appreciate the good beer selection available at the pub.
The pub's location is convenient for tourists staying in the hotel district of Chattanooga. Its proximity to the hotels downtown makes it easily accessible on foot, eliminating the need for customers to worry about driving. This accessibility makes it an attractive option for those looking to enjoy a few drinks without the hassle of transportation.
However, despite its strengths, the Hair of the Dog Pub does have some weaknesses. One notable weakness is the presence of smoking in the establishment. While some customers tolerate smoking, others are put off by this feature. The comment highlights that smoking is not for everybody, indicating that this aspect of the pub may deter potential patrons who are sensitive to smoke or prefer smoke-free environments. Considering the growing trend of smoke-free establishments, this weakness may limit the pub's appeal to a certain demographic.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer is the slow service they experienced. Although some customers have praised the service, this particular comment suggests that there are instances where the wait times can be longer than desired. This slowness may frustrate customers who are seeking efficiency and quick service. It is important for the pub to address this issue and make improvements to ensure consistent and timely service for all patrons.
In conclusion, the Hair of the Dog Pub has several strengths that contribute to its appeal, including its nostalgia-inducing atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, and a good beer selection. However, the presence of smoking and occasional slow service are weaknesses that should be addressed to ensure a positive experience for all customers. Overall, the pub provides a unique and enjoyable setting for socializing, complete with great music, good food, and friendly servers.

Has dive bar old pub feeling here and I absolutely loved it. I would go back and I do recommend. Please know there is smoking here which I will tolerate but this is not for everybody. All food sounded great and I had trouble making a decision. Menu pictures are as of 1/19/23. Good beer selection as well.
I was in Chattanooga for a week from the UK visiting a friend and the day the Queen passed away this place was on the local news I saw at the hotel and they said some NICE things so I thought I would come downtown and find this pub and see what it was all about ?? It was GREAT ! I ordered the Banger's n Mash it was so GOOD I had it twice. Allison that was working the bar at the time was GREAT to talk with also.
Thank you.
We absolutely loved our lunch experience today. We brought both of our Aussies with us to sit on the covered patio and everyone loved them including our awesome server. Lauren was so awesome, she brought water bowls out for our boys and continued to check on them and us. She offered us advice to check out some other awesome places in Chattanooga. The food was fantastic and the beer was even better especially for a nice break from the heat.
Atmosphere is great - good 90s sound playing at a reasonable volume over the speakers. It is a smoking venue that is well-ventilated. Nice ambient lighting, good enough to read the very extensive local and domestic beer menu.
Service is awesome - Edward is a very friendly and attentive server without hovering, and has great suggestions for food and drink.
Food is amazing - the bangers have a nice and crispy casing and juicy middle, the broccoli was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the meatloaf melts in your mouth, and the fried cheese are little crunchy gems of tangy melty goodness.
Take the time to read the menu, they have very fun descriptions and names of the dishes.
Cute pub to have great conversation w/friends. Music was great, but not to loud. The ambiance was dark, still cool.
The burger my wife got was insanely good. The bartenders were great. Loved it.
Valerie and Brandon bring an incredible energy to this place. The prices were very good, and they had a nice selection of the local brews as well as some Chattanooga whiskey. Can't imagine a better place to stop if you're holed up in the hotel district and it's walking distance to most of the hotels downtown so you don't have to worry about driving :)
It was fun to stumble upon a British style pub in Tennessee! The service was a little slow, but it gave us the opportunity to look around and soak up the atmosphere. I tried a cider I'd never had before ("Pliny the Younger") which was okay; based on our server's recommendation I'll try the "Older" one next time. We had snacks, drinks, and a lot of chat, then headed out to do a little tourist shopping.
